About the Project

Inspiration

Recollect started during a simple burger run. We noticed how quick moments like errands or late night snacks fade from memory even though they shape our days. We realized receipts are small anchors that capture these moments. People usually throw them out without thinking about the story behind them. We wanted to make it enjoyable to save these everyday experiences by turning receipts into something you can look forward to collecting.

How we built it

We focused on creating a simple and reflective experience. The idea was to keep receipts at the center of the interface and let people attach notes and photos. The design and ideation phase went smoothly. We explored many creative directions and this concept stood out immediately. Our Figma designs came together cleanly and the aesthetic matched the slow and personal vibe we wanted.

Challenges

We ran into major problems with Figma Make. We originally planned to use the Figma MCP system through Cursor but realized we were limited to Figma Make. This made building functional interactions a serious challenge. We could not achieve the level of functionality we wanted within the time frame.

Another challenge was recognizing how important presentation is. We learned that even the strongest idea loses impact if we do not communicate it clearly. This was a significant lesson for us.

What we learned

We learned how important it is to communicate an idea with clarity and confidence. We also learned the value of staying adaptable when tools limit the original vision. And we learned that even mundane objects like receipts can turn into meaningful design opportunities when viewed from a new angle.
