Inspiration

The project is inspired by the growing popularity of meme coins and their vibrant community-driven culture. These coins often have humorous and engaging narratives, which inspired us to build a fun and informative platform to track and evaluate them.

What it does

Memevest is a platform for meme coin enthusiasts to:

• Discover: Browse a curated list of meme coins like Dogecoin, Shiba Inu, and others, along with their market statistics such as price, market cap, and daily changes.
• Learn: Explore witty descriptions and "moon potential" ratings for each coin to gauge its hype and potential growth.
• Enjoy: Lighten up the experience with random crypto-themed jokes on the platform.

How we built it

We developed Memevest using:

• React: For building interactive components like search bars, leaderboards, and dynamic dashboards.
• Custom Hooks: A useSearch hook for managing search state and operations.
• Backend Server: A server.js file handles requests, serving mock data for meme coins and facilitating future API integrations.
• Styling: Tailwind CSS and custom animations enhance the user experience.
• Data Simulation: Used mock data for meme coins and integrated a joke generator for entertainment.

Challenges we ran into

• Balancing Humor and Utility: Striking the right tone between playful content and providing meaningful insights about meme coins was a significant challenge.
• Search Optimization: Implementing a responsive and user-friendly search experience required tweaking and testing.
• Data Representation: Designing an intuitive UI for displaying complex market data like price changes and volume.
• Server Integration: Simulating API responses from the backend without real-time data sources posed some initial challenges.
