GIBook Editor
Overview

The
GIBook Editor
allows to edit the raw Gebrauchsinformationen XML files, which are used in the
legally mandated
PatientenInfoService
.
For this project, I've spent my time voluntarily to work on the modifications to the DAISY Pipeline and other related projects. The goal was to make usage instructions of medicine as accessible as possible, so the PatientenInfoService featured WCAG compatible PDFs, hearable DAISY audiobooks and other formats that blind or impaired people can use.
However, the GIBook format was the final decided translation format between the Pharmacy companies and their messy RTF documents and the sanitized XMLs that can be validated using schemas.
The
GIBook Editor
is used for maintenance in case any of the involved pipeline adapters
and XML stylesheets failed, which happened for a couple 10s of thousand documents. Its purpose
at the time was to edit, modify, and publish XML files towards the backend of the Rote Liste's
PatientenInfoService.
The tool is pretty simple, can be selfhosted easily, and doesn't have any other dependencies than the Web Browser.
