#sharkey / #yeentown tips: The more buttonsSome helpful features are in the more menu by default. you can change what ones are in your sidebar vs menu in your settings! - Lookup lets you load links to other instances quickly letting you follow or react to posts sent to you by people on other sites - Following is a unique timeline view which splits your screen between your following list and their posts, this is helpful if you want to browse through peoples most recent posts of everyone even when some people you follow post more often than others - Scheduled notes let you plan posts out ahead of time to post at certain times or days. Its good for artists who want to keep a consistent schedule or if you want to post at midnight but want people to see it in the afternoon!- Lists let you make custom timelines of particular people. Its good if you want to sort the people you follow without all the posts being mixed together - Antennas are custom timelines that "catch" all incoming posts and sort them against your whitelist/blacklist. if you're interested in a certain topic and want to discover more posts about it, its a great alternative to traditional algorithms. Just make sure to add to your blacklist as needed. - Pages are like longform blogposts that are primarily shared by links. You can imbed images or treat it as a wiki. I wouldnt reccomend using this over normal posting if you want reach, but it can be good if you prefer a more newsletter style experience. - Plays are games or tools made by other users on the instance, not many exist on most platforms but the ones that do range from quizzes to posting aids- Gallery is a alternative way to post similar to pages. It lets you conglomerate many images in a instagram style view. This doesnt federate as of now, so you should only use this if you intend to directly link it to people- Clips are like bookmarks or playlists but expanded on. You can put things in multiple clips to "tag" them, in which case you or others can search through the clips later to find each post marked that way. - Channels are like groupchats but with posts. Anyone can join or post to a channel but it wont show up on peoples timelines. Its similar to a facebook group. - Chat is your dms! You can message anyone on the same instance as you, and messaging other instances will show up as you making a private post mentioning them that they can reply to. Theres also group chats!- Games! The 2 on yeentown are bubble game (suika game) and reversi. Reversi requires a partner but if you tag @/grimace in it it will act as a bot - Switch UI changes you to a customizable dock ui. This is useful if you find the original UI overwhelming or need specific features. - About shows you instance information- Refresh refreshes the page. This is useful if you're on the mobile web app and cant hit the web refresh button.- Profile shows you your profile - Clear cache clears your cache, good if your browser is slow!

Jetzt fahre ich seit dieser Woche zweigleisig. #Sharkey und #Mastodon. Und ich denke, das werde ich auch weiterhin tun, dafür aber meine Accounts vielleicht thematisch etwas unterschiedlich ausrichten. Muss noch überlegen, wie genau. Da aber ein paar Mastodonten gefragt haben, hier mal meine bisherigen Erfahrungen zu Sharkey im direkten Vergleich mit Mastodon.- Das Zeichenlimit von 3000 lässt längere Wortexzesse zu. - viel, viel bunter, verspielter. Man kann nicht einfach Faven, sondern mit beliebigen Emojis reagieren. Bei Mastodon kommt das dann aber einfach als Stern an. - Apropos verspielt: Katzen, Katzen, Katzen. Man kann seinen Avatar zur Katze werden lassen, er bekommt dann Katzenohren. Und es baut ab und zu "miaus" (eigentlich "ny") in eure Texte ein. Seht ihr bei Mastodon nicht, sieht man hier, wenn man die Option "Katzensprache" nicht deaktiviert hat. Ach, und die Katze, die den Curser verfolgt. Optional natürlich. - Alles ziemlich stark personalisierbar. Edit: Ja, natürlich gibt es auch ein "Deck" wie bei Mastodon, ich war einfach nicht fähig, es vor lauter Optionen auch zu finden.- Es gibt einen Drive, also einen Medienspeicher, da kann man sich seine Medien auch auf Vorrat hochladen, um sie später mal zu verwenden. Oder nochmals zu verwenden, wenn sie schon einmal verwendet wurden. So kann man auch Bildbeschreibungen gut vorbereiten resp. wiederverwenden.- Mehrsprachigkeit. Hier braucht man nicht die Sprache des Posts einstellen, und kann das auch nicht tun. Der Übersetzer erkennt die Sprache aber auch so. Funktioniert aber dummerweise umgekehrt nicht. Sprich: Wenn ich hier in einer anderen Sprache schreibe, erkennt die Mastodon-Übersetzfunktion das manchmal. Manchmal auch nicht. Ist eher zufällig, und vielleicht abhängig vom auf der Instanz gewählten Übersetzer. Auf meiner Mastodon-Instanz z. B. läuft die Übersetzung mit LibreTranslate, auf meiner Sharkey-Instanz mit Deelp.- Ich kann hier Schriftarten definieren. Oder gross schreiben, oder klein, oder gespiegelt. - Ach ja, hatte ich schon erwähnt, dass das hier alles recht verspielt ist? Hatte ich? Ok, ja. Ist es. - Gerade wenn man so Spielchen mit Typographie macht, hilft es, dass es hier eine Vorschaufunktion gibt. - Beim Absenden dieses langen Posts bekomm ich den Hinweis, dass dieser Beitrag andere stören könnte ​​Wenn ihr Fragen habt, fragt vermutlich jemanden, der schon länger hier unterwegs ist. Ihr dürft aber auch mich fragen, müsst einfach damit rechnen, dass ich keine Ahnung hab. Bin nach wie vor am erkunden und entdecken. Manches verwirrt mich noch. Anderes finde ich echt praktisch. Und ja, jetzt darf noch irgend ein Erklärbär oder eine Bärin mir sagen, wie ich hier ein Deck einrichten könnte. Oder warum es ganz, ganz wichtig ist, dass ich das eben gerade nicht kann. Weil Decks Teufelszeug sind. Oder so.

@pandora @crossgolf_rebel Bei Misskey geht es https://github.com/misskey-dev/misskey/issues/7092 also sollte es bei Sharkey auch gehen.Eventuell ist das Dateiformat leicht anders, also blocke erstmal ein paar und lade dann ein CSV runter zum Vergleich. Z.B. ist bei Mastodon in der Kopfzeile ein # for jedem Spaltennamen und bei Pleroma nicht - wie *key es macht, weiß ich nicht.

@M33 Piefed is fully compatible with Lemmy. The entire point of all this here is that despite a decentralisation of power onto many smaller instances, they form together a bigger entity aka the Fediverse. I really don't see what is so weird about this and it is the exact opposite of fragmentation of the userbase.

Yet another new #ActivityPub implementation harassed out of the #fediverse because of privacy-freaks mistaking an AP first-class citizen for a "scraper". I guess fedi has not learned from the #ContentNation incident at all. Or maybe they don't really care, because it's not the "normal social media way", whatever the fuck that means. ​:ablobcateyeroll:​If these privacy-freaks are really serious about their "opt-in" they would've already suspended all instances of #Misskey, #Sharkey, and every other -key fork (I think #Iceshrimp, #Catodon, and #Firefish still has it but please correct me if I'm wrong) that has the "proxy account" feature (you can see this with @[email protected] for example). Because it is fundamentally the same damn thing as #Awakari's AP implementation does. They're both a kind of #followbot which will only follow you if someone from that instance or service needs a feed of your posts and nobody else has requested for a feed before.But they won't suspend them because they're "mainstream" and "do it the normal social media way". Because of course, the fediverse is all about social media and microblogs, and if I don't understand how this new implementation works it must be dangerous! And Russian!!Don't like follow bots? Fine, block them, announce if you feel like it and if nobody else who you can boost has done it yet. But don't mislead #fediadmins by saying it is a "scraper" and it "violates the GDPR" and all kinds of psuedolegal bullshit. You're just showing your ignorance.
