LUGGAGE N’ UMBRAGE: The Skeebo Sides EP is both a continuation of the ideas and intent explored in COMMANDO’s 2022 debut album and a look towards the future.

The songs - co-led by Juba Kalamka and Ekzekiel “Skeebo” Johnson,Sr. (Kalamka’s paternal great-great uncle) are a part of the band’s celebration of Skeebo’s 138th birthday and an appreciation of his legacy as a multi-generational raconteur, griot, time traveler and shit-starter (though hje prefers the term “culture alchemist”).. Filled to the brim with his raconteurish wit and wisdoms, Skeebo revels in his trademark slicker-than-most slack and actual facts -minus the lack-a-lack of a wack gerontocrat.

Like their debut, Luggage explodes with a mix of propulsive rhythm, infectious lyricism, grit, anger, delicious queer sexiness, shredding, wailing and undeniable love from the heart of San Francisco Bay Area badassery that we need now more than ever.
