Our organization’s work is aligned with CMCAN’s mission, vision, and goals — bringing together various stakeholders and people with lived climate migration and displacement experiences to discuss innovative climate migration and displacement solutions through education, collaboration, and participation.

Since our organization was founded in December of 2023, we have worked hard to develop various initiatives and programs that center on education, participation, and collaboration.

📘
Education

Education to CMCAN is important for when it comes to educating others on the topics of climate mobility and displacement through different ways.

  • CMCAN put together various social media posts that explain the different definitions, impacts and different ways of understanding climate mobility.
  • In April 2024, we produced a video titled “What does Climate Mobility mean to you – a CMCAN Video Project”. The focus of this video was to understand how different people from around the world define climate mobility.
  • We hosted events focused on giving an overview of climate mobility. One example is our August 2024 event titled “CMCAN Intro Event: Climate Mobility – What is it and Why You Should Care”.

                  🤝
                      Participation

Participation in CMCAN has to do with providing a space for different people to come together in planning CMCAN,
having and expressing their opinion on climate mobility in a virtual and in-person space.

Some examples of the work we have done on participation:

  • CMCAN has done more than five events and will continue to do so. Many of our events, both in-person and online, ensure it is more accessible and easier for people in all different countries to be part of it.
  • Events where CMCAN saw a high turnout were the “Climate Mobility and The Importance of Research” at University College London (UCL), and “Exploring the Role of SDG#13 and SDG#17 in Finding Youth Solutions for Climate Mobility Action”, which was held online at the UN ECOSOC conference.
  • Our organization ensures that in our events and projects, people who have knowledge on climate mobility or who have been impacted by it are always included.

🧩
Collaboration

Collaboration to CMCAN is bringing different people who have experience and expertise on this topic by planning various initiatives and programming. We believe true progress comes from collective action and open dialogue, where shared learning leads to stronger solutions. Our approach is rooted in partnerships that support inclusive engagement, particularly amplifying the voices of those directly affected by climate mobility.

Some examples of the work we have done on collaboration:
  • In November 2024, our organization participated at COP29 on the ground. We collaborated with several organizations such as the Global Centre for Climate Mobility, the Asia Pacific Network of Refugees, and the Mediterranean Youth Council. Through these partnerships, we gained valuable knowledge and perspectives on climate mobility for a better future.
  • Our upcoming initiatives like the CMCAN Ambassador Program and the CMCAN Award Program bring together different partners to recognize individuals making impactful changes on climate mobility and those who want to represent CMCAN.
