Object Storage Fallback

Introduction

Object Storage Fallback allows you to set up a backup object storage in a different region (EU x US). In case your primary storage becomes unavailable, all cached content will continue to be delivered by the CDN edges, while uncached content will be automatically redirected to the fallback storage location, ensuring minimal disruption for your end users.

How it Works

  • The fallback storage is always created in a different region (EU x US)
  • If the primary storage experiences an outage, CDN Resources using that object storage will automatically switch their origin to the fallback until service on the primary is restored

Conditions for Primary | Fallback Switch

  • The system sends two attempts, first to the primary origin and second to the backup origin
  • If the primary fails 4 times in a row (default), it's temporarily disabled for 10s (default)
  • After the timeout, the system will periodically retry the primary storage with a single request
  • If the request succeeds, traffic is automatically switched back to the primary
  • If it fails, traffic continues on the fallback until the next retry

It’s important to know that we do not manage the data for you. The content you upload, update, remove or manage in any way on the primary storage is not automatically replicated to the fallback storage, allowing you to choose if you’d like to replicate only the most important data or all of it.

How to Enable Fallback Storage

  1. Go to Origin -> CDN77 Object Storage in the Client Panel
  2. Select the bucket on which you wish to enable fallback storage
  3. Select Fallback Storage
