It's an interesting idea. I'm not a huge fan of chaotic random penalties though so I don't think it's for me.
Because without darkvision you automatically fail (and get hit by advantage/disadvantage for unseen attacker/target).
Remember, total darkness is -5 to passive perception even if you have darkvision.

·6 months agoI remembered there being an exception for artifacts in the antimagic field description, but it turns out it's confusingly worded.
This section excludes artifacts:
Spells and other magical effects, except those created by an artifact or a deity, are suppressed in the sphere and can't protrude into it.
But this one doesn't:
Magic Items: The properties and powers of magic items are suppressed in the sphere.

·7 months agoYou say that, but IIRC there are official DnD statements that gods do not have statblocks because they are too powerful for mortals to even try to fight. They renamed the Tiamat statblock to Aspect of Tiamat for precisely this reason.
