Probate Fee Calculator

In California, probate fees are set by statute (California Probate Code Section 10810) and are based on the gross value of an estate. Many people are shocked to learn how these fees are calculated and how long the probate process can take.

Enter your estate value below to estimate statutory probate fees for estates over $208,850. We’ll also email you a report explaining what these numbers mean and how probate works in California.

Note: In California, probate fees are calculated on the gross value of assets, not the equity. Mortgages and other debts are not deducted when determining statutory probate fees.

Most families are surprised by how probate works in California. We explain it step-by-step in our free educational workshop so you can make informed decisions for your family.

The Attorney with a HEART

Mr. Bier is an excellent attorney. Very professional, courteous, and caring. He does not leave anything to chance on your case. He will find all the information necessary to make sure he is current with the law to best help his clients.

From the beginning to the end he is there for you. No small question is too small.
