Neighbourhood Vibe into the Mall.
Bakehouse Shatin echoes the brand’s artisanal, warm roots while embracing a bold, industrial identity. Located in the heart of New Town Plaza, this outpost reflects the spirit of community and craft that defines Bakehouse. A palette of deep blue tiles, exposed brick, polished concrete, and playful merchandising zones brings together an atmosphere that’s equal parts bakery, bistro, and workshop. Designed with transparency in mind, the open kitchen invites guests into the making of their daily bread—celebrating the process as much as the product.
What we loved:
We loved creating a space that could feel both high-energy and down-to-earth, where the bakehouse team could experiment with a more complex dine-in experience for their guests.
Biggest Challenge:
Translating Bakehouse’s signature street-level intimacy into the vast, polished context of a shopping mall was no small feat. Malls can feel anonymous, hostile, impersonal—everything Bakehouse isn’t. Our challenge was to inject soul into the space while ensuring the space felt spacious and welcoming (not cramped or chaotic). It took a lot of smart zoning, circulation planning and layout crunching to make it work.
Secret Detail:
The playful blue tile mural wall in the dining zone is hand-drawn with illustrations that reflect Bakehouse’s journey and personality— cheeky, artisanal, and human. Hidden among the doodles are homages to key team members, tools of the trade, and little quirks that only regulars or insiders might spot.
