CQuest™BioX is an innovative carpet tile backing developed by Interface, Inc. designed to significantly reduce the carbon footprint of modular carpet flooring. It is part of Interface’s next-generation CQuest™ backing platform and represents the highest carbon storage capacity in the company’s range of backing materials. The backing is a non-vinyl bio-composite made from bio-resins, bio-fillers, and bio-oils, combined with recycled materials.

Sustainability

CQuest™BioX contains a higher concentration of carbon-negative materials compared to earlier CQuest™ backings, enabling it to store more carbon than is emitted during its production.  When combined with specific specialty yarns and tufting processes, the resultant carpet tiles can achieve a carbon negative status (cradle to gate), meaning the product’s manufacturing results in less net CO₂ released into the atmosphere than if the product had not been made.

Applications
CQuest™BioX is used in commercial modular carpet installations, particularly where sustainability performance (including embodied carbon reduction) is a priority. It supports design and certification goals for low embodied carbon construction projects.

CQuest™BioX itself supports carbon-negative flooring solutions as part of Interface’s Climate Take Back™ mission aimed at reversing global warming. Modular carpet tiles built with CQuest™BioX can contribute to LEED®, BREEAM, and other green building rating credits by lowering material carbon emissions
