Heya there~

So not much has changed since the last journal; I'm still working on commissions, so for this journal, I'm doing something a little different. I think it would be fun to compile a list of ideas I’ve scrapped or things I’ve changed about my characters over time, and why I did them.


— Mila as a Mouse —
The biggest change everyone noticed was giving Mila a mouse form. She used to just be a pikachu until I began using a new original mouse form around the turn of 2021. Ever since 2018, I had been thinking of making an original design for her, but I never got around to making one. That changed when I received a DMCA to my Patreon and Twitter in late 2020, so I decided to speed up the process of giving Mila an original form. I still draw her pikachu form sometimes, but I’m more proud of my own original design at this point, though I enjoy drawing both. I appreciate the people who’ve kept up with me for so long they get hyped when they see her old pikachu form.


— Mila's Eyes —
A lesser-noticed detail I changed about Mila was her eyes. They used to have pink sclera and a lighter pink iris. I changed this because I like the way her deep pink iris stands out from a more natural white sclera; it’s easier to make these eyes glow. Actually, for the people who’ve kept up with me for a really REALLY long time, they’ll know Mila originally had white sclera and pink irises in her debut art and a few of the follow-up drawings.


— Pika Speak —
For a more obscure change, in the original Glory Hole Stories comic, Mila spoke in the pikachu language, denoted by the pika noises near the normal dialogue bubbles. I used this website called “pikachizer” to translate for me. I thought it would be a neat detail to imply she was making pika noises, but people still understood her. This never showed up anywhere else. I think I stopped doing this because I was lazy.


— Lantha's Old Anthro Form —
Lantha used to have a different anthro form with glasses; I thought she’d look cute with them. This form of Lantha was shown in a comic I started called Cotton-Tail Camera, in which I planned to have Lantha discover she likes taking good pictures. This would have come up while spending time with Mila at her job in the club, whereupon Lantha would end up being Mila’s photographer, creating a fun dynamic with the two. I didn’t really like the sudden change in Lantha’s personality in this comic, because she didn’t quite seem like herself. She was too reserved. This was around the time when I was developing Lantha to be more outgoing. I could still do something like this, but with Lantha’s more modern personality.


— Scrapped GHS2 —
Speaking of discontinued comics, Glory Hole Stories Part 2 was originally supposed to happen after a time-skip and mostly focus on Mila. I made the first page, but I put it down to focus on other things at the time. She was riding a train across town (I think she was going to work), and going through old photos (my old art) to reminisce, because Lantha was supposed to be bigger at this point, using the form I made for Cotton-Tail Camera. I didn’t have any direction I wanted to take the comic besides random scenarios like in Part 1, plus I wanted to begin planning out the flow of my comics (instead of coming up with things page-by-page), so I scrapped it.
