Sarah Engels-Greer
Sarah decided it was high time to play with her Alcohol Inks and Steampunk Stamps. She perused her Compendium of Curiosities 2 book and went for Tim's stamping onto metal foil and glass fragment to portray her Eccentric Gent adding that bit of brown with coloured Idea-ology and Sepia Archival Ink.
An inky background combined with the Woman Filmstrip from PaperArtsy are showcased in Tracy's artsy piece this week.  Distress Inks broken china, faded jeans, chipped sapphire and a touch of vintage photo set the background scene.

Candy Colwell
Candy's Bits of Brown creation is a combination of brown inks, stains and texture.  The marbleized background was achieved using Wild Honey, Vintage Photo and Picket Fence Distress StainsGathered Twigs Distress Ink provides the distressed look on the corrugated tag background. Even the silver metal Ideaology embellishments take on a brown tone when lightly touched with Gold Alcohol Ink.

Terry
Terry created a bouquet of flowers in a vase using all the different colours of Distress stains and Distress inks. For her vase and flower backgrounds, she used the amazing Luscious Leaves and Chequered Dots from Dylusions with The Wendy Vecchi's Art from the Heart text. All of the roses are created with the Spiral Blossom One die and are distressed with touches of brown, just like the vase. Finally, Terry finished off with lots Crackle and Glimmer mists.

Dan
When Dan read the title of this week's theme it made him think of old sepia-toned photos, which in turn led him to consider the fragility of memory and ephemera.  This tag is the distillation of all that thinking!  Products he used included the Mixed Media, Artful Artifacts and Creative Muse stamp sets, the tiny attacher, a Coffee Archival ink pad and Claudine Hellmuth gesso.
I had great fun with Distress Stains ... Distress Inks ... Paint Dabbers and my Bind-it-all this week to making my screen! The stamps are all PaperArtsy Hotpicks ... I just LOVE those daisies!

Simon Says Stamp and Show ... Anything Goes!

Hello Everybody! Thank you for playing along with our last Challenge! The winners will be announced this Wednesday .... so don't forget to check back ... this could be your winning week! If you want to join in the fun ... all you need to do is ... make something ... anything ... pop it on your blog ... and come back here and link up so everyone can see what you made! Before you start take a look at what the Design Team came up with...
Sarah was feeling rather British after seeing the Olympic Torch run past her street so she decided to create three funky and patriotic cards using the fabulous Loverly London and London Underground stamps from Artistic Outpost. She used Ranger's Pool and Red pepper Alcohol inks, Glossy Cardstock and Black Archival Ink.

Tracy has gone for a real industrial feel to her decorative heart using Tim's Riveted Patchwork technique from A Compendium Of Curiosities Volume ll along with masses of Metal Foil Tape and Alcohol Inks ginger and pitch black.

Candy Colwell
Candy was inspired by Graphic 45's Old Curiosity Shoppe papers to create this whimsical cabinet filled with all sorts of curiosities! Covered in those fab papers and given Tim Holtz' Pulley Wheels, this unfinished wooden box comes to life. The glass doors were heat embossed using Tim Holtz' Pencil and Paper and Artful Artifacts Stamp Sets. Doesn't this make you CURIOUS?

Terry was in a store, found these fabulous photo-frames and just had to alter them! She used lots of Gesso, Distress Stains, Distress Crackle Paint and Crackle Rock Candy as well as Rusty Hinge, Vintage Photo and Weathered Wood inks. Hand-made roses lie on top of  Foliage leaves from The Tim, and last but not least, she added a fabby Rosette to finish off her project.
Dan
Dan was very numerically minded this week, inspired partly by the Cavallini and Company numbers paper tape.   Other products he used included panels taken from the Lost and Found paper stack, a Tim Holtz Numeral and the Ultimate Grunge and Creative Musings stamp sets.
Linda Elbourne
I made a tag this week. Building up with lots of layers starting with Picket Fence and Faded Jeans Distress Stains. More layers were added with Olive Archival; Vintage Photo Distress Ink and a Gold Dabber. The stamps I used were Tim Holtz Steampunk; Shabby French and Bitty Grunge.

Simon Says Stamp and Show Some Texture ...

Hello Everybody! Thank you for playing along with our last Challenge! The winners will be announced this Wednesday .... so don't forget to check back ... this could be your winning week!

Before I set out the details for this week's challenge I have some more sad news. The lovely Lynne Forsythe has been with the Simon Says Stamp and Show Design Team from Day One and this week is her final project ... it is time to say goodbye! I am sure you will all join me; the Design Team and the entire Simon Says Stamp family by saying a huge THANK YOU to Lynne for all her hard work and wonderful inspiration! We are going to miss you Lynne and we wish you the best of everything!

This week Simon Says Stamp and Show ... Some Texture! If you want to join in the fun ... all you need to do is ... make something ... showing some texture ... pop it on your blog ... and come back here and link up so everyone can see what you made! Before you start take a look at what the Design Team came up with...
Sarah loves indulging in torn cardboard layers, gesso and shabby fabric to create texture, so she created a card with all three using the wonderful images from Artistic Outpost's Think and Wonder stamp set. She also used lots of Walnut Stain Distress Ink, Gesso and touches of Viva Decor Old Gold and set her layers on Tim's Kraft Resist Paper Stash base.
Tracy is encouraging us to Dream A Little Dream this week with her original piece using Tim's Dream A Little stamp combined with lots of texture from torn masking tape, rusty elements and stitching. Adding a little dimension with a Large Bottle Cap.

Lynne Forsythe
Did somebody say TEXTURE.....'cause Lynne just loves that word! She created a texture packed ATC for this weeks challenge. She began with a Watercolor ATC and added tons of color to the background. Wrapped it with Tissue Tape and added some Tissue Paper adhered with Multi Medium. She topped it off with a rose made from Grungepaper!

Candy Colwell
TEXTURE...so fun to play with! Candy has created a texture rich trinket box. She began with Claudine Hellmuth's Gesso, Dyan Reaveley's 5x8 Diamond of a Border, Dotted Flowers, Letter Jumble and Luscious Leaves Stencils to create much of the texture on the top. Embossed Ranger Foil Sheets embellish the sides of the box.  A Juniper Paint Dabber helps patina the finish and the metals.  Melted Clear UTEE give the flowers a faux porcelain look.

Terry

Terry made a textured ATC as she loves to play with Wendy Vecchi's stamps and her favourite Just Flutterby Butterfly of course. She used Spring Seasonal Distress Inks, Distress Stains and Crackle Rock Candy. Rock Candy and Glossy Accents were used on the butterflies to create a different texture. A Sprocket Gear adorns the Rosette, the Hope word stick is from The Tim and the back was finished with lots of colour and lace too.

Dan
Dan used the Stars embossing folder to add texture to his shadow frame, before blending Gathered Twigs distress ink onto it.  He then rubbed an Aged Mahogany pad over it to bring out the raised detail on the stars and filled the recessed areas with a white pen.  He stamped the balloon onto acetate and coloured the rear side with Distress Markers.  Other products he used included the Elements of Time, Mixed Media and Remnants stamp sets and a piece taken from the Destinations card stack.
Linda Elbourne
When I hear the word texture ... I grab the Grunge paper! I upcycled my Chip Coaster with lots of Wendy Vecchi Studio 490 Stamped Grunge paper! Of course all my elements just had to be coloured with Distress Inks!

Simon Says Stamp and Show ... One for the Boys!

Hello Everybody! Thank you for playing along with our last Challenge! The winners will be announced this Wednesday .... so don't forget to check back ... this could be your winning week! This week Simon Says Stamp and Show ... One for the Boys! If you want to join in the fun ... all you need to do is ... make something ... anything ... that relates to our male theme ... pop it on your blog ... and come back here and link up so everyone can see what you made! Please Please only link work that ties in with this challenge. Before you start take a look at what the Design Team came up with...
With Father's Day on the horizon in June, Sarah thought it was the perfect theme for two cards. She created two one-layer designs using Tim's fabulous Road Trip and Artful Voyage stamp sets adding splatters and wild swooshes of Distress Stains to add a modern edge.

A new purchase in the form of Tim's BIRDMAN inspired Tracy's quirky decorated canvas panel. A real masculine treat decorated with masking tape and more stamped images from the Scratched Raven Bird, Kaiser Bird Cage, Kaiser Graffiti and Kaiser Numbers.
A Man Is....Lynne began her "manly" creation with lots of Wendy Vecchi goodies!! She began with the Pocket Watch, added Mustaches, Men and More. She then ended her creation with an ATC  and a quote written with a White Gel Pen.
Candy decided to put her grunge on this week and do one for the guys ... Tim Holtz style!  Her 6x6 board features Tim Holtz' Old Jalopy flaming Mini Flourish "smoke" from it's tailpipe.  For a more masculine, grungy feel, Candy created this piece almost entirely from Distress Embossing Powders and Distress Inks.
Terry
Terry made a Tag for the guys.... On her background Shaded Lilac, Peacock Feathers, Vintage Photo and the Tim Holtz Stampset French Market along with Crackle Rock Candy. Then Paper Artsy's "Hot Pick" and Wendy Vecchi's Art Parts For the Guys all coloured with Distress Inks and Crackle Distress Paint. To finish off, she played with The Journey, Sprocket Gears and some items that she had in her stash.
Dan
Dan went with a motif of cogs, gears and rivets for the cover of his guy-themed journal.  He used the Clockworks embossing folder to add texture to his copper coloured metal then used blending solution to reveal the silver colour on the raised parts.  Finally he rubbed Claudine Hellmuth Charcoal Black paint into the recessed areas and distressed it with a Tim Holtz sanding block.  Other products he used included the Classified Info stamp, long fasteners, Archival black ink and Barn Door distress ink.
Linda Elbourne
I revisited an old design for this week's theme ... Using lots of Tim Holtz Stamps; Faded Jeans Distress Stain and Coffee Archival I made a manly DL card! Of course I had to add Vintage Photo Distress Ink to all the stamped edges to get that vintage feel!

Simon Says Stamp and Show a Summer Holiday!

Hello Everybody! Thank you for playing along with our last Challenge! The winners will be announced this Wednesday .... so don't forget to check back ... this could be your winning week!

Before I set out the details for this week's challenge I have some sad news. After spending the best time on the Design Team with Ellen ... we have to say goodbye. Ellen is leaving us  ...and we are all going to miss her ...  so I am sad to say that this week will be the last time we will get to see her amazing creations here on the challenge blog. Of course you can still check out her wonderful art on her own blog. I am sure you will all join me, the Design Team and the entire Simon Says Stamp family by saying a huge THANK YOU to Ellen!

This week Simon Says Stamp and Show ... A Summer Holiday! If you want to join in the fun ... all you need to do is ... make something ... that makes you think Summer Holiday ... pop it on your blog ... and come back here and link up so everyone can see what you made! Before you start take a look at what the Design Team came up with...
The SUMMER HOLIDAY theme inspired Tracy to use the Huck Finn plate from Artistic Outpost as it reminds her of summer holidays by the seaside and exploring the the rock pools with her children. Lots of blending with Distress Ink broken china, faded jeans and brushed corduroy create the scenes on both her cards.
Sarah Engels-Greer
With summer and lots of new memories on the way, Sarah decided to create a colourful panelled canvas cover for her new Art Journal. She used Ranger's Lettuce, Stream, Sunset Orange and Wild Plum Color Washes, Gesso and The Crafter's Workshop Flower Template, all finished off by stamping random words with Hero Arts peg stamps.
The theme.....Summer Holiday conjurs up memories of her week at the beach....warm colors and beautiful flowers. She began with a tag which she colored with Twinkling H20's, Majestic Blue, Olive Vine and Teal Zircon. She used Jet Black Archival Ink and PaperArtsy stamp to finish off the background. And a good saying is ALWAYS the icing on any creation!!

Candy Colwell
What better way to remember special SUMMER HOLIDAYS than through a vintage journal created entirely with Graphic 45's beautiful On The Boardwalk Paper Pad?  A Tattered Floral made from Tim Holtz' Terminology Tissue Wrap and colorized with Distress Stains, a seashell and an anchor stamped from Paper Artsy's Hot Picks 1201 Stamp Set give some added dimension to this beautiful journal cover.
When Terry thinks of the Summer Holidays she thinks of the Distress Stains Wild Honey and Broken China... great colours to create a Summer wall hanging. On the background she used Gesso, Distress stains and Distress Crackle Paints in Picket Fence, Antique Bronze and Crackle Rock Candy. The paper and images are from the beautiful Graphic 45 On The Boardwalk Paper Pad. She added some seashells, a Rosette  and Game Spinner  to finish off her hanging.
Ellen Vargo
Ellen started with a marbled effect using distress stains to create a "pool" background. Then added the dressform / spool and butterfly stamps from Tim Holtz, watercolor scratch paper die cut with Tim's butterfly movers and shapers, over-stamped with the papillon background and vermillion archival ink, a philosophy tag, and finished it off with a hand-stamped sentiment using a mini alphabet stamp set, and a border with a white paint pen.

Dan
Dan was inspired by the beach huts you still sometimes see on English beaches, particularly in towns that were popular seaside resorts in Victorian times.  Products he used include the Mixed Media and Creative Textures stamp sets, Distress inks and markers, Promarkers and the Destinations paper stack.
Linda Elbourne
When I think back to Summer Holidays ... I think Daisy Chains and Sunshine ... I spent many a day sat in the grass making Daisy Chains. I used Paper Artsy Hot Pick 1203; Dylusions Pure Sunshine and Squeezed Orange Sprays to create my tag adding some text from Tim Holtz and a Gem Clip.

Simon Says Stamp and Show ... Anything Goes!

Hello Everybody! Thank you for playing along with our last Challenge! The winners will be announced this Wednesday .... so don't forget to check back ... this could be your winning week! This week Simon Says Stamp and Show ... Anything Goes If you want to join in the fun ... all you need to do is ... make something ... anything ... pop it on your blog ... and come back here and link up so everyone can see what you made! Before you start take a look at what the Design Team came up with...
A tag and coordinated gift bag were the order of the day for Tracy this week using An Eye For Art Stamp set, Border Patrol stamp coordinated with an inky background from Distress Stains. A small gift bag was created from Tissue Wrap Terminology.
Ellen Vargo
Ellen created a mini watercolor journal using Wendy Vecchi's Small Pages art parts, TenSeconds Studio metal, texture fade embossing folder, Ranger's new metal patinas.  Bound with idea-ology D-rings, and  embellished with alpha parts and one of the new word bands from Tim Holtz.
Lynne made a going away book for her daughter for this weeks challenge. She used papers from the Postal Collection Paper Pack to adorn the covers. She accented her book cover with 7 Gypsies goodies, Big Ben Book Knob and Decoratif Chipboard and added a signature flower created with the Mini Tattered Floral Die.
Terry made a ATC laden with lots of vintagy stuff...! The background was created using the Graphic 45 paper-pack and the Chitchat Stickers from The Tim Holtz. Crackle Accents were used on the little Graphic 45 fairy and a little tag with a vintage style lady was placed underneath. Terry finished off her ATC with roses and pearl-strings.
Sarah Engels-Greer
Sarah was in the mood for a little up-cycling so she created a stitched postcard and envelope set from Art Journal and book pages. She used Lettuce and Sunset Orange Color Wash, Gesso, her favourite Wendy Vecchi flower stamps and a range of her great sentiments.

Candy Colwell
Candy had fun creating this vintage corset ATC card. Pink Paislee papers create the background; distressed with Vintage Photo and Black Soot Distress Inks.  The lovely trio of ladies was cut out using Honey Bee's Detail Non Stick Scissors. Their glitzy necklaces are courtesy of Waterfall and Star Dust Stickles. Finally, she added vintage tulle and Melissa Frances' Cream Pearls for that dimensional and feminine touch.

Dan
Dan's Andy Warhol inspired piece gave him the chance to give a first try to several recent purchases.  In addition to the new Spring Seasonal Distress Colours, he used Tim Holtz's Mixed Media stamp set, Wendy Vecchi's Well Dressed stamp and the Commute tissue tape dual pack. Old favourites he also used included Promarkers, Distress Stains and a Versamark Watermark ink pad.
Linda Elbourne
The Anything Goes theme was the perfect opportunity for me to finish off this little project. I moulded the metal using TSS basic tools and the Time mould. Embellishing with Tim Holtz's Gadget Gears die and SteamPunk Stamp set with a few bits of Idea-Ology.

Simon Says Stamp and Show your Favourite Stamp!

Hello Everybody! Thank you for playing along with our last Challenge! The winners will be announced this Wednesday .... so don't forget to check back ... this could be your winning week! This week Simon Says Stamp and Show ... your Favourite Stamp! If you want to join in the fun ... all you need to do is ... create a project using your favourite stamp ... pop it on your blog ... and come back here and link up so everyone can see what you made! Before you start take a look at what the Design Team came up with...
After much deliberation, Tracy decided that her favourite stamp of the moment is the BALLOON stamp from Tim's Remnants set. Add into the mix an inky background using Distress Stains along with embellishments in the form of Chitchat Stickers, Word Band and Mini Paper Clips.
Ellen didn't have to think long to find her favorite stamp.. the leafy vine from Dylusions! So she created a Dylusions style jumbo tag. First an ink spray background, stencils next, then stamps, perfect pearls paint (mix powdered pearls with water), Ranger water brush, and a white pen.
Lynne loves using large stamps, like Cling Dots and Flower Art, as "white noise" in the background of her greeting cards. She split a Mini Burlap Rectangle Tag and spritzed it with Frost, Slate and Indian Corn Tattered Angels. She loved "tearing up" the edges of her card with the Distrezz It All. She finished it off with the Adage Ticket held with a Mini Clothespin.
Candy's favorite stamp right now has to be Tim Holtz' Remnants stamp set. Candy has created a box, reminiscent of an old wind up toy, using a Tim Holtz Adage Ticket to create a funny man soaring from her dimensional hot air balloon colored with a Barn Door Distress Marker.  Papers from the Weekend Market 6x6 Paper Pad line the interior and a Tim Holtz Clock Key creates the wind up effect.
Terry made some Decorative Pot Plant Labels for her Mother and Mother in Law. She used her favourite stamp from The Wendy Vecchi, Just Flutterby Butterfly. She used Distress Reinkers to colour them, Distress inks for the borders and Distress Stains were used for the background.  On top she worked with Distress Rock Candy and a few Paper Rosettes. The sentiments are from The Tim Holtz Chit Chat Stickers.

Sarah Engels-Greer
One of the most inked stamps in Sarah's collection must be Tim's Papillon butterflies so she created a grungy, shabby hanging with metal elements. She white-washed Kraft Resist Paper Stash with Picket Fence Distress Stain before stamping and cutting lots of  Grungepaper butterflies...finishing with an Idea-ology Metal Word Band.

Dan
Of all of Tim Holtz's stamps, the David head is definitely Dan's favourite.  He feels it's such a versatile stamp that can be used in so many ways and he's given David a dinstinctly 70s look on this card!  He was stamped on white, kraft and brown cardstock and then combined from parts of each.  In addition to the School Desk and Artful Artifacts stamp sets, Dan used the Destinations card stack, Memento Black ink pad and Walnut Stain distress ink.
Linda Elbourne
I tried really hard to come up with just ONE favourite but I failed ... so my Favourite is Wendy Vecchi's butterfly from the Botanical Art sheet ... I have a whole list of Dylusions Stamps which I also LOVE ... so I have represented those by using the Dylusions Sprays for my vibrant backgrounds.
