This Day in History: Arlington National Cemetery has first military burial

(WDBJ) - May 13, 1864:
The first military burial occurred on the grounds of Arlington House.
The estate was officially created as Arlington National Cemetery a month later; it not includes the graves of soldiers from every war in which the United States of America has participated in.
