Grown Here at Home: Troutville shop sells more than just honey; it’s healing
TROUTVILLE, Va. (WDBJ) - Bee Still Farm -- the name is a nod to more than just the bees that produce the honey for the products sold inside the shop in Troutville. It points to a Bible verse in Psalms, “Be still and know that I am God.”
Owner Jennifer Webb and her family needed that promise to get through an unimaginable hard season in their lives.
“We actually lost a son in 2017 and that was a time in our lives where we needed to be still, and we needed to focus on God,” she said.
Little did Jennifer know bees would help in the healing process. She bought her first hives a month before her son passed away. As Jennifer cared for her bees and processed the grief, years later after being still, it was time to make a move.
“We had been praying to God about wanting to do more for Him and this building came in. We were asked if we wanted it. It was something we could afford and manage. We thought, well, we’ll give it three months and it just kind of went from there,” Jennifer explained.
Nearly two years later, faith fuels everything you see in this shop.
“We have free crosses that people can take. We also have Bibles that if someone needs one for themselves or their friend, they can take as another way we can give back. It’s still something we work through, but we can get through because of the Lord, and He has been so good to us. When we sit down and we’re making products or spinning honey; we have a purpose,” she said.
Honey serves the purpose of healing.
