Cole<\/a> and what he did with <em><a  href=\"https:\/\/www.vibe.com\/news\/entertainment\/j-cole-2014-forest-hills-drive-album-anniversary-concert-1234954988\/\"  >2014 Forest Hills Drive<\/a><\/em>; it was a trailblazing body of work that would contend with the best albums in any year. That year, however, there wasn\u2019t much to compete against. But something was brewing in Atlanta that few people outside of A-Town and its environs could have ever expected to reach the heights that it did.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p\n\t\tclass=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \"\n>\n\tFuture had the vision when he took on that rap moniker. Before 2014, the masses primarily knew him for <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.vibe.com\/news\/entertainment\/ciara-future-blogs-misquote-1234711960\/\"  >dating Ciara<\/a> and a few big collaborations, namely with Rihanna (\u201c<a  href=\"https:\/\/www.vibe.com\/features\/vixen\/future-talks-loveeeeeee-song-video-281310\/\"  >Loveeeeeee Song<\/a>\u201d), <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.vibe.com\/news\/entertainment\/v-exclusive-yc-speaks-racks-racks-success-haters-more-82500\/\"  >YC (\u201cRacks\u201d)<\/a>, Drake (\u201cLove Me,\u201d \u201cTony Montana\u201d), and Ace Hood (\u201cBugatti\u201d). He wasn\u2019t a slouch, but neither had he established himself as a blockbuster solo act, even after releasing <em><a  href=\"https:\/\/www.vibe.com\/features\/editorial\/review-futures-honest-album-puts-style-over-substance-218720\/\"  >Honest<\/a><\/em> in April 2014, which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. Then something happened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p\n\t\tclass=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \"\n>\n\tPluto rattled off one of the most impressive series of mixtapes that this genre has ever seen, starting with October 2014\u2019s <em>Monster<\/em>, continuing into January 2015\u2019s <em>Beast Mode<\/em>, and ending with March 2015\u2019s <em><a  href=\"https:\/\/www.vibe.com\/news\/entertainment\/lil-wayne-future-56-nights-greatest-mixtape-1234835298\/\"  >56 Nights<\/a><\/em>. These three projects feature some of his most well-known cult classics. They didn\u2019t dominate the charts, but they\u2019re hits in the streets and the clubs. \u201cThrow Away,\u201d \u201cMy Savages,\u201d \u201cCodeine Crazy,\u201d \u201cMarch Madness,\u201d \u201cLay Up,\u201d and \u201cPeacoat\u201d alone make him a tough matchup for <em>any<\/em> artist when talking Verzuz, and that\u2019s without getting to his actual chart toppers that would come later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-spotify wp-block-embed-spotify\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n
