James Hendler is the Tetherless world professor of computer and cognitive science at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He is the editor in chief of IEEE Intelligent Systems and a reviewing editor for Science. He is former chief scientist of the Information Systems Office at the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, and former member of the U.S. Air Force Scientific Advisory Board
