Control your public LinkedIn profile

Manage your public profile information

Control what sections of your profile are eligible for display to people who are not signed in to LinkedIn, or can be viewed on search tools such as Google or Bing.

Edit public profile sections

You can set limits on which sections of your LinkedIn profile may be displayed to LinkedIn members and people who aren’t signed in to LinkedIn by editing your public profile settings. Keep in mind that in some contexts, we may show a more limited profile preview that includes some but not all of the profile fields you've allowed.

Important to know

After you make changes to your public profile, it may take several weeks or even months for search tools like Google, Yahoo, or Bing to detect and reflect those changes. LinkedIn does not control how or when these search tools refresh their results. If your profile appears incorrectly in search results, you’ll need to contact the search tool directly to request a correction.

To control your public profile settings:

  1. Click the Me icon at the top of your LinkedIn homepage.

  2. Click View Profile.

  3. Click the Edit icon next to Public profile & URL on the right pane.

  4. To hide your profile from public view, toggle Your profile’s public visibility to Off.

  5. To hide specific profile information, toggle the related setting to Off to hide that information from your public profile. Changes are saved automatically.

Note: Even if your profile is set to public, people who aren't LinkedIn members may be prompted to sign up or sign in to LinkedIn to view parts of your public profile.
