2025 SHAKESPEARE COMPETITION RESULTS:
1st Place Sweepstakes Champions!
We are excited to announce that the Hillcrest Shakespeare Team had another incredibly successful year at the 2025 National High School Shakespeare Competition which was held October 2-4 in Cedar City, UT. The competition saw over 100 schools compete from all over the country, and Hillcrest placed in the Top 3 finishers in ALL of the major acting categories. Additionally, our Husky team received awards in the Tech Olympics and Dance Competitions, as well as being invited to perform in the final Showcase.
This is Hillcrest's 6th consecutive Sweepstakes victory at the competition, and their 12th time winning 1st Place Sweepstakes in the last 16 years.

What a surprise!
On June 10, at the Best of State Gala at the Salt Palace, in addition to receiving our 2025 Best of State Medal in Theatrical Education, the Hillcrest Theatre Department was shocked to also be awarded with the
Best of State Statue in the Overall Field of Education.
The Best of State Awards awarded medals in 49 different Education categories this year, and Hillcrest Theatre was named the Overall winner of all of them.
This is a huge testament to our community, students, and volunteers. This is incredible.
Mr. Long and MAbbott were out of town and couldn't attend the gala, but Mrs. Gremmert, Principal McCann, and last year's Theatre and Stage Crew Presidents and VPs were on hand to accept the award. See Mrs. Gremmert's shocked acceptance speech here

The 2023-24 season was one of the most successful years for the Hillcrest Theatre Department. Besides producing five memorable shows including the USA Premiere of "The James Plays" and being named Best of State in Theatrical Education, they also won 1st Place at the National Shakespeare Competition, Region Theatre Competition, State Theatre Competition, and were named Best Ensemble at the Utah High School Musical Theatre Awards (all of which they won the previous year as well). This range of awards and honors demonstrates the great versatility the Hillcrest Theatre students have, being able to succeed at Shakespeare, musical theatre, and everything in between.
