Haiti - Football : PM handed a 100 million gourdes check to FHF
On Monday, August 25, 2025, during a ceremony at the Prime Minister's Office, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, accompanied by Niola Lynn Sarah Octavius, Minister of Youth and Sports, and Alfred Fils Métellus, Minister of Economy and Finance, handed a 100 million gourdes check to the Haitian Football Federation (FHF) to support the preparation and participation of national teams.

This symbolic ceremony brought together senior government officials, including the Prime Minister's Chief of Staff, Axène Joseph, the Secretary General of the Prime Minister's Office, Francis Garcia, as well as representatives of the Haitian Football Federation, including Ms. Gally Amazan, a member of the Normalization Committee. Also present were coach Eddy César, his coaching staff, and especially our young Grenadiers, U-17 players qualified for the Qatar 2025 World Cup, bearers of hope and pride for an entire people.

In her speech, Minister Octavius reaffirmed the Government's determination to continuously support Haitian sport, "a true lever of unity, discipline, and national pride."

On behalf of the FHF Normalization Committee, Ms. Amazan welcomed this historic gesture by the Haitian government, calling it tangible proof of the Government's commitment to the development of football and youth, as part of the recently signed three-year partnership.

Speaking, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé delivered a vibrant message of solidarity and encouragement to our young heroes: "You will bring to Qatar the dream of a people who believe in you. The flag you will fly is not just a symbol; it is the soul of Haiti. Every step on the field will be a step for the dignity, unity, and greatness of our Nation."

The Head of Government concluded by reaffirming that supporting youth and sports remains a sacred duty of the Haitian state, and that the entire population will stand behind their Grenadiers in this noble mission of promoting Haiti beyond its borders.

This financial support will enable the Federation to partially finance the budgets necessary for the organization and support of the year's major international events, including:

• The U-17 national team, qualified for the final phase of the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025, which requires intensive preparation to represent the country with dignity;

• The senior men's national team, scheduled to compete in the final phase of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers starting September 5, a decisive milestone for Haiti;

• The senior women's national team, which began competing in November in the preliminary round of the Concacaf W Championship, a competition that opens the doors to the 2027 World Cup (Brazil), the 2028 Olympic Games (Los Angeles), and the 2029 Women's Gold Cup.

This financial support is a major lever to support our national teams' preparations and meet some of the organizational and logistical requirements of these high-level competitions. It also paves the way for increased mobilization of public and private partners around the same ambition: to provide the Grenadières and Grenadiers with the best possible conditions to represent Haiti.
