This tomato is a fake "Cœur de bœuf" They sold them to you under the wrong name, I didn't even know the French words was used for this purpose.
Despite the name is not the good one and it's a fraud to name this tomato "beef heart" (literal translation) some shop still put this name.

The one you got can be legally sold under the name "tomate cotelée" in France (beefsteak tomato)

It really said "Cœur de bœuf" on the sign in the store. I didn't know there's another similar looking tomato known as "cotelée". Thank you for the explanation lapub.

a "Cœur de bœuf" have a smooth skin, they just do what supermarket do the best : fooling customers !
Just the same way you can buy 'tiramisu with Mascarpone" with 0,3% of cheese, when the Italian recipe is more 25% !
