Today I want to introduce you to Ratt's younger sister, Perenel. I've never drawn her before, so I couldn't finish this sketch dump for almost a month because I needed to put some effort into her coloring. Perenel has a very unusual coloring for a schigl (the name of her race). Asymmetrical spots are rare for them and are mostly found in females (another example is Jaynet with these chaotic black, white and red spots on her head and tail). Also, schigls usually have a monochrome body color, only their backs and tails are darker, but Perenel also has dark paws. So she combines two rare coloring features and can be considered a very interesting representative of her race x)
In any case, I didn't want her asymmetrical spots to look beautiful; they should look strange.
Perenel is much younger than Rattmarr. He's old enough to be her father, as she was born when he was already an adult. They had different fathers and grew up in different circumstances.
Ratt was the second child of his mother, Kestrel, and his father, Hammond. He had a complicated relationship with his father and older brother (though he loved both), and at the same time, he was his mother's favorite, and it's caused him a mixed feelings. He wanted to gain his father's recognition and escape his mother's overprotectiveness, and strangely enough, he was underloved and overloved at the same time. In any case, Ratt was never someone the whole family focused on, and he grew up with a persistent sense of inferiority.
In fact, I need to say much more about his childhood to make it clear why he is the way he is. But it's a long and not very happy story.
As for Perenel, she was a very late (and undoubtedly wanted) child of her parents. By then, Kestrel had already lost her eldest son, Osdair, and the last thing she wanted was the same fate to befall any of her other children. And her second husband, Aldvin, had no children at all and was far from young when his first daughter was born. So it's no surprie that Perenel received unlimited love and care from the cradle, and was never denied anything. She was pampered not only by her mother and father, but also by her older brother, who doted on her.
What can I say about her personality?
Perenel's temper and antics can terrify anyone. She is energetic, lively, very quick-witted, strives to be everywhere, to find out and try everything, and does not cause problems only when she sleeps. She can hardly be called evil, but she can be quite harmful, mainly because she does not understand rules and prohibitions very well.
I should say a few words about her relationship with Ratt to explain this sketch with her "magic staff" :D
Perenel loves him no less than he loves her, largely because he willingly participates in her life and understands her much better than her parents. He cares for her, but his care is never burdensome. They both have good imagination, and Ratt (despite the fact he often tries to look serious when interacting with strangers) is one of those who never grows up, so it's not difficult for him to entertain his capricious little sister.
For example, he once told her stories about scary wizards, hoping to tickle her nerves. But Perenel was not scared at all and, on the contrary, wanted to become a wizard herself. And now she even has her own magic staff! Of course, it's unlikely that she will turn anyone into a toad with it, but it's still a good weapon :')
Well... in the future, she will be lucky enough to spend many days in the house... no, not of the wizard, but of the venerable alchemist! Although this will be the result of unpleasant events.
(I don't know her outer name, by the way. Ratt only talked about her to those he could trust, and therefore called her by her hidden name)
(I talked a little about names in this world here)
