I’ll admit, I’ve never actually seen Guardians of the Galaxy, or really, much of any superhero movies (I think the last one I saw was Spider-Man 3, way back when that came out). I can, however, appreciate a cute raccoon. After IronTiger26 showed me this funny cartoon starring him and Groot, and I saw how great some of Rocket’s expressions were, I knew I had to do a picture of him. And after doing some research, I can see why he’s so beloved. Looks aside, he’s a lovable, grumpy, trigger-happy kleptomaniac with a heart of gold. It’s hard not to like someone like that! Honestly, I’m surprised there’s so little of him hypnotized. Between being as popular as he is, a cute raccoon, and having been around for a while, you’d really think there’d be more!
Hopefully this is the start of that changing!
Rocket had almost forgotten about this planet. Giant cat monster aside, it was sickeningly cute, colorful and soft, and he’d happily put it out of his mind until that bounty had been posted. Apparently, some snake named Kaa had been kidnapping politicians. They’d turned up just fine with no memory of what happened, but the fact the snake was able to pull that off at all had earned him a bounty worth millions of credits. This was the last place he’d been spotted, and so far, no one had found him; or maybe just couldn’t remember finding him. Either way, this was his chance to strike it rich, and there was no way he was passing it up!
Rocket darted from mushroom to mushroom, gun in hand as he looked around. “Alright, Groot. You know the drill; ya see anything slithering and scaly, attack!”
“I am Groot!” Groot agreed. He noticed something moving out of the corner of his eye. “I am Groot!”
“Oh, heck yes! This bounty’s all ours!” Rocket grinned as he rushed through the mushrooms, eyes locked onto his target. He couldn’t get a good look at the snake; from the glimpses he was getting, it was a long one, rapidly slithering along the ground, but who cared? All he needed to do was catch it!
The raccoon leapt at the snake, tackling it and grabbing as hard as he could. “GOTCHA!”
All he needed to do was wait for Groot to catch up, and they’d be all set! They just needed to bring this weirdly furry snake-
…Wait.
Furry?
Rocket took a closer look, and gulped as he realized what he was holding. Slowly, the raccoon looked up, and found himself staring at a pink and blue behemoth of a cat, looking curiously at the little fuzzy creature on its tail.
“Uh… good kitty?” Rocket nervously chuckled.
The cat roared, pupils slit and mouth full of fangs.
Rocket promptly took off screaming.
“GIANTCATGIANTCATGIANTCAT!” Rocket yelled as he raced past a startled Groot.
Groot turned to look at what was chasing the raccoon…
And took off screaming, giant cat in hot pursuit.
After what felt like hours of fleeing, the bounty hunters slowed to a stop, both gasping for breath.
“All right… I think we lost him…” Rocket managed to get out.
“I am… Groot…” his partner replied.
“What? What does it matter if this place looks… familiar…” the raccoon trailed off as he looked around the clearing in front of them. “ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! It’s the same place we landed the first time! I specifically landed somewhere else to avoid that thing, and NOW it’s furball-free?!”
Rocket kicked a mushroom stalk the width of a tree trunk in frustration, and ended up hopping around on one foot in pain. “Yeow!”
“I am Groot?” Groot asked, concerned.
“I’M FINE!” the raccoon snapped. He put his foot back on the ground, and took a deep breath. “I’m fine. You know what we’re going to do? We’re going to go back to our ship, get off this planet, and forget this day ever happened.”
“I am Groot?!” Groot protested.
“The cat can have the bounty for all I care, there’s not enough money in the galaxy for- WHOA!” Rocket flailed wildly as he tripped, faceplanting on the ground.
The next few minutes were filled with the sound of a raccoon’s muffled screams of rage as he thrashed about, while a snake and tree creature watched him in concern.
“Err… issss your friend alright?” Kaa asked.
“I am Groot.” Groot shrugged.
“’About normal’? Oh yeah, REAL funny, buddy,” Rocket growled as he pushed himself up off the ground. “Let’s see you try and-“
Rocket did a double take as he noticed Kaa.
“The bounty! We finally found ya!” the raccoon gleefully cackled, pulling out a gun half his size and pointing it at the snake. “All right, Scales, you’re coming with us!”
Kaa blinked. “Rocket Raccoon, I take it?”
“The one and only!” he grinned.
“I thought asss much!” Kaa chuckled. “There’ssss not too many bounty hunterssss that look ssso cute and cuddly.”
Rocket glared at him… and then went back to grinning. “Nope, too happy to be mad! I’M GONNA BE RICH! Groot, grab the middle, I got his head!”
“Really, thissss issss unesssscesssaryyyyy!” Kaa yelped as the raccoon grabbed him in a headlock and took off running.
“I am Groot!”
“You know, this’d go a lot faster if you quit thrashing!” Rocket grumbled. They had been trying to get back to the ship for about half an hour now, and it was still nowhere in sight. How far had they run?
“It’ssss hard not to!” Kaa protested. “I sssswear, it’ssss like you’re trying to crash into thossse mussshroomssss.”
“You’re the one pulling ME into them! It’s not my fault I’ve got the reflexes to NOT crash!” Rocket snapped.
“I can’t ssssee anything!” Kaa complained. “I have dirt in my eyessss, and I can’t rub it out with your partner holding me!”
“I am Groot,” Groot offered apologetically.
“Yeah, yeah, come on, ship can’t be that far off,” the raccoon replied, preparing to drag Kaa again.
“I am Groot,” his partner commented.
“We can pour some water on his eyes or something when we’re back on the ship,” Rocket said, rolling his eyes.
“I am Groot.”
“…Yeah, this probably would go faster if he could see,” Rocket sighed. The raccoon leaned in close. “All right, Scales, let’s see what you’ve got.”
Kaa opened his eyes…
And Rocket’s world was filled with color.
“What the…” he breathed, his jaw hanging slack at the sight of the snake’s eyes. The swirling rainbows were the most beautiful thing he’d ever seen. They were shiny and sparkly, and there was something about them that just felt good to watch. He had to hand it to the snake; no one had gotten him feeling the warm fuzzies since-
Wait… the snake?
The bounty!
Rocket struggled to tear his eyes away, shut them, anything, his head twitching with the effort. Whatever the snake was doing, there was no way it could be good! No one did something nice for the person trying to turn them in for credits!
The raccoon quickly grabbed for his gun, pointing it at Kaa’s face. “Turn off the lightshow, or I…I’ll shut it off for you,” he growled through gritted teeth.
“With what weapon?” Kaa smiled.
Rocket caught a glimpse of his hands from the corner of his eye. He could have sworn he was holding his weapon, but there was nothing there… what?
“Bessssidessss, do you really want the pretty colorsssss to ssssstop?” Kaa smirked. “All the sssssoft, sssssoothing sssspiralssss to ssssstop making you feel ssssso nicssse?”
The raccoon hesitated. “No, but… the money…”
“Money can’t buy you thissss pleasssure,” Kaa grinned. “The whole point of tracking down a bounty issss for the reward, isssn’t it? Focusssing on the biggesssst payout? Well, you’ve found your bounty, and thissss issss your reward.”
That… made sense? It was hard to think…
“A bounty hunter should keep their bounty closssse,” Kaa continued. “And clossssenessss bringssss intimacssssy, happinessss and trussssst between the two. It’ssss only natural to want warmth and affection… and your efforts have earned you plenty.”
Yes… Yes, he wanted this! He’d found his bounty, and he needed to stay close! He could trust the snake…
So why was he trying to fight him?
Rocket’s mouth fell open into a silly smile, his pupils shrinking to pinpricks as his tongue flopped out. Swirling colors swept his thoughts aside, his body tingling with excitement as he stared deep into Kaa’s eyes. The snake moved his head, bobbing and weaving about, and the raccoon followed suit, craning his neck to keep the rainbow rings in sight. Kaa began to sway to and fro, and Rocket mimicked his movements; a gesture, and the raccoon was swinging his hips as he stumbled towards Kaa. Rocket barely noticed as he scaled a stairway of coils; all that existed, all that mattered, were the snake and his colors!
Rocket marched through loop after loop of coils, his eyes locked on Kaa’s. The snake lowered his head, and Rocket dropped to all fours, walking ahead with his tail waving in the air. A boop to his nose stopped the raccoon in his tracks, and the snake’s tail slid under his arms. Rocket was lifted to his feet, and the two began to dance, the raccoon stumbling and swaying across the snake’s body, Rocket’s tail wagging wildly as his eyes swirled with colors. Kaa took him into a spin, coils wrapping the raccoon as the two twirled together. Soon enough, he was up to his shoulders, and the snake lowered him back to the ground.
Kaa leaned in close, giving his raccoon a quick kiss on the nose, Rocket giggling deliriously in response. Then, the pleasure really began; the coils shifted and squeezed, scales sliding through fur as the raccoon moaned from the massage. The snake’s tail scratched behind his ears as they flopped behind his head, Rocket purring and panting as drool dripped from his mouth. He had no idea how he’d hated this before; every stroke sent a fresh wave of bliss across his body! Massaged and pet, beautiful colors everywhere he looked – Rocket was in heaven. This was the best he’d felt in his life! Never mind money; nothing could be better than this! And he owed it all to Kaa…
He was all ears as the snake began to speak, every syllable echoing in his empty head. “Good Rocky. You’re a friendly little fuzzball, aren’t you? Ssssso eager for affection beneath all that rage. There’sssss no need to keep up the ssssnarling; you’ve earned your reward. You can relaxssss without a care in the world, no thoughtssss or free will to dissstract from the colorsss. I’ll handle thossse pesky thingsss; you jusssst be the sssssoft, sssssnuggly sssssweetheart you alwaysssss were deep down. Food, protection, converssssation, play – you’ll sssserve my every whim with a ssssmile and sssswirly eyesssss. You’ll be my pet, a cherished, cuddly coon, and I your beloved Masssster. “
Eyes spiraling madly, tail flailing behind him, a dopey, drooling smile on his face, Rocket nodded at nearly warp speeds. “Heck yeah! I don’t need to think or worry; all I need is Master! I’m a good Rocky! I’m soft, snuggly and sweet! I’m a friendly, fuzzy pet, and I love ya, Master!”
A tug on the neck, and with a PING! Rocket broke into the biggest, goofiest grin of his life.
Kaa draped his tail over the raccoon’s head, tickling his nose with the end of his tail. The cute, cuddly coon happily watched it sway, his little nose twitching from the touch. Chuckling at the sight, Kaa stroked his new pet, the raccoon purring as he rubbed his head against his master’s tail. Rocket – Rocky, as he was soon to be known – was somehow even cuter in person than he was on the news. He’d known who the raccoon was, of course – a trigger-happy talking trash panda was hard to miss. Finding him, though, that had been the tricky part. He didn’t exactly stay in one place, or at least not on one planet. After hitching ride after ride, asking around and somehow getting directed to a blue bunny (how anyone mistook his Rocky for a rabbit was beyond him; even ignoring the colors, the species looked nothing alike), he’d had to change tactics.
Why try and find a bounty hunter when you could get the bounty hunter to try and find you?
The hare had been more than willing to help for free after some spirals, and the two of them had started their kidnapping spree. It hadn’t been long before he’d racked up quite the bounty, and people had started coming for it. They’d all been hypnotized and sent away, or eaten, but in the process of fleeing one, he’d stumbled across his target… and some assistance.
Kaa smirked as he patted Groot on the head. “Good boy, sssstealing the gunssss….”
He’d bumped into the tree creature, and soon enough, he had a second helper. Groot had made sure the first bounty on Rocky’s screen was his master’s; the bounty Blackjack had racked up helping him probably would have worked better, but sadly, the bunny had been caught. Kaa would be sure to get him out of prison as soon as he could; on the bright side, once he snapped out of his trance, he’d probably find a way to blame this on Rocky. Blackjack seemed to do that a lot.
Speaking of the raccoon…
Kaa leaned in close, cupping the cute coon’s chin with his tail, and gave his purring pet a kiss. Rocky blushed, closing his eyes as he returned his master’s affection. The snake loosened his coils, and the raccoon’s arms sprang up, pulling the snake in closer as he rapidly planted kisses across Kaa’s face. Kaa could only blink in surprise as Rocky’s tongue poked against his lips; he wasn’t complaining, but he hadn’t expected his Rocky to be this affectionate! The snake opened his mouth, moaning as the raccoon’s tongue slipped inside. Before he knew it, Rocky had bent him over backwards, a hand supporting his head as the kiss went on. Eventually, the raccoon broke away for breath… and promptly leaned back for more.
Kaa raised his tail. “One… one second…” he panted. Goodness, his raccoon was kiss-crazy… This was going to be fun when he got used to it, but at the moment, he’d prefer breathing. “Lie back, my pet.”
Rocky eagerly flopped back, staring up at the snake with adoring, spiral-filled eyes. A scaly tail slithered down the neck of his jumpsuit, the raccoon shivering at the touch. Soon enough, Rocky was purring and panting as Kaa gave him a belly rub.
“Master…. If I can be honest?” The raccoon managed to get out. “I love the way you taste when ya kiss me.”
“The feeling’ssss mutual,” Kaa smirked as he wrapped up his raccoon.
He and his Rocky were going to make quite the cute couple.
