Sarya whereby
Jaisaril Nezz offers to comfort his charge.
Never Bet Against a Ra’tieen:
On Earth, Alex, a red-haired human, was talking with his guardian. A 78 foot tall Ra’tieen with a heart that compliments his size. Using his Yutri, he was able to keep in touch with his charge. Nezz’s eyes sparkled every time they spoke, as did Alex’s. But this time was different. Nezz knew, it didn’t take a Lupari to realise something was up with Alex. “...you still feel the same, Alex?” Nezz sighed, ears hanging low as he leaned closer to the screen. A slight falter of his smile breaks through, whilst his voice was that of heart-brake and sorrow.
Something was different. The usual sparkle was there in both their eyes, as always was the case during these yutri calls to his charge, but the room behind his human’s face seemed darker, duller somehow. The 78 foot tiger could be overthinking, he’d heard this Eng-Land had unpredictable weather, even by Earth standards. “...Do you still feel the same, Alex?” Nezz asks with a worried sigh, his smile faltering and ears drooping low behind him as he leans into the screen, trying to close the gap between him and his precious humann to ease his heart-ache at seeing the sadness in his charge’s face.
Taking a deep breath, Alex turned away from the screen. Looking at the pile of letters and old photos from long ago. “Yeah… b-but… it’s okay Nezz, I’ll be fine” the human raised his head up, eyes darting quickly from side to side. Struggling to focus on those yellow pupils that offered security and safety from the outside world. “It’s...n-nothing I can’t...h-andle” Alex tried to smile, but the cracks of despair infected that once warm smile.
Nezz placed his paw upon the screen, Alex doing the same. “Virtual hug!” Nezz sighed softly, seeing his guardian offered a light through the darkness.
“I...I just wish you were here” Alex did everything to stop his eyes shattering. Alex had to be strong, any second longer that his guardian smiled was a treasure. “A-Alas… you… c-can’t…” before Alex moved his head away, Nezz smiled.
“Who says I can’t…” Nezz cocks his head to one side, a smile firm on his face to shine in this dark time of his charge’s life.
“I-I don’t know, the law probably…” Alex shrugs defeatedly, unable to bring his eyes meet those of his guardian, lest he cry again. This time, to the one he sought to protect from his troubles.
“Well, maybe I wanna pet my cute lil human…” Nezz chuckled softly, only warranting a confused but laser eye stare from Alex. “Damn! Alex, I need to go, sorry” the Ra-tieen gave one last smile, before turning his Yutri off. Despite the screen going blank, that comforting smile was glued to his brain. A smile that everything was okay, but like everything else, that was temporary.
Alex stood up, turning his computer off, refusing to accept reality was here in the form of those letters. Each one starting with the same dreaded words.
‘We regret to inform you…’
He sat on his bed, staring at the plain white ceiling. Hearing the silence in his family home was unnatural. Despite all the bedrooms this house had to offer, he refused to acknowledge their existence. Doing everything to erase that painful reminder. Turning to his side, facing the blank screen of his computer. Squeezing the covers to hide away. He sighed. Around now he would hear the soothing sound of his mother’s voice, along with her kissing his cheek. But, nothing.
Giving one final glance to what once displayed those kind yellow pupils, and the soothing smile of his 78ft Ra’tieen guardian. Was overcome with darkness. A reminder that not everything lasts. Taking a deep and painful breath, his body struggled to compose itself. A thought crossed his mind.
“W-What did… N-Nezz mean? B-By that” Alex whispered softly, whilst his throat clogged and lungs contracted. Before falling asleep. Praying he would dream of days that have since passed, to be with them again.

Two days later:
Alex awoke one morning, family photos drenched in salty tears, faces he’ll never say in person again. And, on the pillow next to him rested a valentines day card, in the shape of a heart. Covered in dust. Taking one last look before standing up. The letters and photos stashed away, their faces weigh heavily enough on his mind without the pictures reminding him of his loss. Except one, the newest one in this neverending trickle of bad news, a message about his father from the Home Office that he tore and threw at the bin to his side. Longing for the journey through denial to acceptance to be over.
Making himself a coffee, he sat down on the sofa. The day was normal, curtains hide that once pleasant blue sky, now grey and lifeless. Each sip of his brew followed by deep breaths like out of a meditation programme. But, as soon as he sat his cup upon the table, it rippled. Leaning forward, eyes investigating the weird waves rippling through his coffee. He placed both feet upon the carpet, now feeling a rhythmic pounding.
“W-W...What is t-that?” he only looked up from the coffee for a moment. Taking a peak out of the one curtainless window. The only light he accepted to see. But, it was gone. The shaking had stopped.
knock knock
Almost jolting at the sudden knocking, he took hesitant strides towards the door. By the time he approached it, both arms were in conflict with one another to open it.
“W-W...Who...is it?” he asked the stranger, but no reply. An eerie darkness filled his house. Taking a slow breath, he opened the door with a gentle creek accompanying it.
“N-Nezz?” he stuttered, seeing his 78ft Ra’tieen guardian crouching down. That kind visage, with those large yellow sparkling eyes staring right at him.
“W-W… What are you doing here?” hesitation continued consuming him whilst his heart was close to pushing through his chest.
His guardian just smiled. Tilting his head slightly, no tooth on display.
“You looked troubled, I wanted to cheer you up. A virtual hug just wasn’t cutting it” those words only warming Alex’s heart. The feeling of hearing Nezz’s rhythmic heartbeat was enough to soothe his charge.
Alex leaned his head out the window, seeing two paw patches either side of his neighbours lawns.
“N-Nezz..you could get in trouble, you...s-shouldn’t of '' Alex turned his head down, eyes glistening in delight to see his charge in person. The Ra’tieen slightly moved his eyes towards the paw-craters, snickering nervously. Eyes now returning to his charge.
After a long trip, his heart yearned to finally hold his charge for a second time. Nezz’s eyelids lowered slightly, focusing on his charge. Crouching down, muscles bulging. The ground beneath his feet could only submit to his 211 tonnes of body mass as his paws crushed deep craters into grassy lawns and concrete driveways alike. Nezz’s eyes withdrew from Alex’s gaze, instead focusing on the ground below. It was safe. Releasing a toothless smile towards his charge, and any bystanders. Nezz’s paw withdrew from his side, as he attempted to reduce the height difference.
“Come here lil one” he cooed, whilst his paw made contact with the ground. A platform awaited Alex at the end of his porch, and his Ra’tieen guardian.
Alex remained silent. Taking fragile steps, leaving behind the pain and anguish lurking inside their once joyous family home. Alex made his way towards his guardian, and the soft pad that beckoned him over. Bearing no glance towards the other families, albeit they are so lucky to have such a gift. Alex knew that. Any look acting as a reminder. Approaching the paw, just one step away, he froze. Leg’s struggling to sustain the weight of his loss. Alex craned his head upwards, meeting those glistening pupils once more, smiling at his guardian.
“Everything will be okay, I promise” Nezz whispered, encouraging Alex to take that one last step. And, he did. Delicately leaving the cold ground, only being greeted by the warmth and comfort of his Ra’tieen protector.
Lowering his other paw, Nezz’s gigantic digits, digits that held such power, provided ease to Alex. Alex’s body melted into Nezz’s digit, as he stroked his charge. Giving a wider smile, tail wagging softly. Accepting that he was right, the trip was worth it for this moment. Ensuring Alex’s focus remained on him, the world becoming a haze. Cupping his paws, ensuring Alex’s safety. Nezz returned to his full height, towering over the small residential area. Softly moving his paw towards his chest. Close to his chest fluff, Alex’s favourite spot. Any strength he applied when pressing Alex against his fur betrayed Nezz’s size. Nezz did everything to ensure Alex’s safety as he stroked his back softly with his smallest digit.
“I’m here. I will never leave you” he cooed, feeling the human against his fur. Nezz, stood there, silent.
Alex remained against his chest, shielded in his cupped paws. Small tears leave his body, falling upon the Ra’tieen’s fur below. “There, there. It’s okay, let it out” he whispered softly, stroking his side.
“I… g-guess… I made a mistake” he muttered under his breath, but Nezz’s radar sized ears picked up on it. Honing in on the stutter of his charge. Looking down, Nezz’s eyes sparkling.
“N-N… Never bet against a Ra’tieen, h-huh” he chuckled lightly, Nezz smiling as he raised Alex to his maw. Hugging him against his fluffy cheek. Both their eyes closed, in one another’s embrace.
