Just when the paladin was struggling in her transformation the many other Bullring Traps were already targeting the rest of the party including the wizard.
Here are some rules regarding the Bullring Traps:
- The transformative part of the Bullring Trap is neither the Brass Cow Head Golem nor the chain, only the nosering. The noserings or bullrings have a powerful enchantments on them that turns whoever is wearing the nosering into either a cow or a bull. The cow ones turn both men and women into cows, the bull ones equally turn both men and women into bulls, the sexes are changed accordingly. The indication of cow or bull is to be seen on the Cow Head Golems, the stylized ring from where the chain comes from carries horns for bull and udders for cow. The enchantment can however be modified in such a way that men and women are turned into cattle keeping their original sex, that they always turn into a bovine of the opposite sex or that the sex is randomized. In such cases the markings on the Brass Cow Head Golem should be changed accordingly to avoid confusion.
- The transformation is very fast, taking only 1 to 5 minutes, top. In the process the victim`s ability to speak gets highly limited, but they keep their intellect. Hair, body markings like scars, tattoos are kept during the transformation, but they might become covered under fur, if the victim turns into a hairy, shaggy cow breed. The transformation is also permanent.
- That means removing the nosering after the transformation is complete does not result in turning back into a human, elf, dwarf or whatever. However the nose ring can be reused, that means if a single Bullring Trap has finished transforming one of a group of enemies, it can open the nosering and proceed to the next victim.
- The nosering keeps its transformative enchantment even after the destruction of the trap. A salvaged, looted nosering can still be used to transform people. It however doesn't magically open or close itself anymore and has to be bent by blacksmithing tools when out onto a victim to transform.
- If the nosering is destroyed, which is unlikely without hurting the current victim, or its magic is dispelled, which is also unlikely for it requires knowledge of aiming for the nosering, not the Golem Head, the transformation is halted in its current state. As the transformation is very fast the victim will most likely be stuck at a point past anthro. The same goes for cutting the septum of the victim in order to remove the nosering violently.
- To revert a victim back to their original form an equally strong transformation spell is required with the effect of turning into a human, elf, dwarf or whatever. Or the original transformation spell can be analyzed from a salvaged nosering and a spell with reverse effect can be deduced.
- The Brass Golem Head can levitate, control the animated chain, and open and close the nosering at will magically. It can be given simple orders, as to patrol, keep its position or actively hunt for victims. To detect those victims it possesses magically created senses of vision and hearing like any other golem. It can memorize the layout of the dungeon for navigation as well as the person or persons it's supposed to not attack, like its enchanter, creator, owner or their servants and allies. In battle it will try to evade attacks or even try to pull its current victim between the Brass Golem and any attacker, using the victim as meat shield. On its inside the Brass Head is larger than on the outside, containing up to 10 meters of chain.
- Dispelling the magic from the Brass Golem might have one or more of the following effects:
-It looses its levitation.
-It looses its control over the animated chain, making it go amok.
-It's memory is wiped, making it target any mortal indiscriminately, including its owner.
-The magically contained chain spills out of its hole.
- The Brass Cow Head Golem can be destroyed. As a metal golem it is however resistant to poison, stab damage like arrows, and can pretty much only be destroyed by blunt force or magic. Destroying the Brass Head leads to all the same effects as dispelling all magic from it.
- The chain is animated. If the Brass Head Golem gets destroyed it still can move on its own and will attack anyone nearby. However the nosering won't open and close anymore, that is controlled by the Golem. Dispelling its magic causes it to loose its ability to move on its own or to move under the control of the Brass Cow Head Golem. In such cases the Golem will still try to swing the chain around, aiming for people's faces, however its ability to aim is highly reduced.
- It's highly unlikely to break the chain. Hitting the chain would only lead to a violent tug on the current victim's nose, pull more chain links out of the cow head golem or send the cow head golem flying. The chain gives way to any force that might break it. You could fix it to a solid surface so that it cannot evade the force, just by pinning it to the ground with your feet. But that would be next to impossible for the current victim with a transforming body, only another person could do that. However it takes a huge amount of strength to break the chain, which is highly resistant to physical damage.
- You could cut the chain with a bolt-cutter like tool or saw it through with a metal saw. But those would be highly specialised blacksmithing tools, the first most likely not yet invented in a medieval Fantasy World and the latter would take too long to finish before the process is completed. Also metal saws tend to have a delicate, extremely hardened and therefor easy to break saw blade, and in the heat of the battle it would most likely snap in half when the chain, the Brass Head Golem or the victim starts moving.
