As we enter 2026, here is a look at three notable books that will be celebrating their 100th anniversary this year.

Lucy Maud Montgomery is known for her novels set in the province of Prince Edward Island, but The Blue Castle, set in Muskoka, Ontario, is as enduring as her Anne and Emily books. This romantic coming-of-age novel about a woman who defies convention to achieve her dreams was inspired by a vacation that Montgomery took to Bala, Ontario.

Ernest Hemingway’s debut novel, The Sun Also Rises, was also published in 1926. An early modernist novel, it received mixed reviews at first and has had its share of criticism since, but it is considered by some to be his best work and is one of the most downloaded books from our site.

The book that will undoubtedly prompt many 2026 celebrations in the UK and around the world is the well-loved children’s classic, Winnie the Pooh by A. A. Milne. The famous bear was inspired by “Winnipeg”, a black bear from Canada, that Milne and his son viewed at the London Zoo.
