Jump Rope Contest event dates

Bulbasaur’s Jump Rope Contest starts on Sunday 19th April and ends on Monday 27th April

If you’re inpatient, or want to get a head start on practicing before diving in with your friends, you can always time travel to this date to get started.

How to start the Jump Rope Contest

To start Bulbasaur’s Jump Rope Contest in Pokopia you need to speak to Bulbasaur outside a Pokémon Center or at their home habitat and follow these simple steps:

  1. Find Bulbasaur outside a Pokémon Center or near their Home Habitat. You don’t have to rebuild the Pokémon Centers though, I haven't completed most of them and I could still access the event.
  2. Speak to them when they’ve got the 'I wanna have a contest!' bubble above their head. Follow the conversation.
  3. Select the 'Is a jump rope contest going on right now?' when it appears to start!

How to win the Jump Rope Contest

To win the Jump Rope Contest you need to press R to jump over Bulbasaur’s rope before it hits you in the ankles. Here are a few tips I found useful for winning the contest:

  • Move the camera so it’s looking down on top of your Ditto and Bulbasaur - I found it easier to judge the jump timing this way.
  • Jump when the rope is on the side facing the Pokémon Center’s door (or rubble if you’ve not rebuilt it yet).
  • Look at Bulbasaur’s reactions - They usually happen when the rope speed is about to increase.
  • The rope slows down suddenly at 50! - This caught me multiple times, once you’ve jumped 50 times, Bulbasaur will suddenly slow the rope down which breaks your current jumping rhythm.
  • Listen to the rhythm - This can help time your jumps.
  • Focus on Ditto not on the rope - I found it easier to time my jumps by focusing on Ditto and not the rope. It sounds counterintuitive, but I found it better to look at Ditto and then have the rope in my peripheral vision - once it was visible, I’d jump.
  • Play with friends - The speed can be easier to contend with if you’re attempting the contest with friends, just remember you all need to be in sync to make it over the rope.
