“Our Eye on the EU”: Young Europeans Learn Media Skills at a Forum in Sofia
SOFIA, June 7, 2026 – A four-day capacity-building meeting organized by the BlueLink Foundation began today in the capital. The forum brings together nearly 45 experts and young people from eight countries. This is the second international event as part of the 24-month “Our Eye on the EU” project.
The main goal of the initiative is to develop participants’ skills and critical thinking, moving from theory to practical editorial work and the creation of multimedia content. The project involves a long-term and in-depth analysis of European policies during the 2026–2027 period, equipping young people with tools to critically evaluate information and counter disinformation in the political discourse.
The forum in Sofia directly builds on the results of the project’s first meeting, held May 3–6, 2026, in Athens. While the focus at that time was on media literacy, analysis, and introductory approaches, the program is now shifting toward practical implementation, policy monitoring, strategic communication, and advocacy development.
Today’s program is centered on introductory sessions, working with sources, and selecting specific topics across the five key areas: education and youth, migration and asylum, civil and human rights, the environment, and social activities. The young people will learn to apply techniques for field interviews and fact-checking, and in the coming days they will transform their analyses into accessible reports, podcasts, and video content. The project is implemented with the support of the European Union’s “Citizens, Equality, Rights, and Values” (CERV) Program. Activities are coordinated by the Greek organization Inter Alia in a consortium with the BlueLink Foundation (Bulgaria), the Romanian Youth Movement for Democracy, Coglobal (Spain), Europiamo (Italy), the European Network of Young Media Creators (Germany), the Geremek Foundation (Poland), the Szubjektiv Ertekek Alapitvany Foundation (Hungary), and the University of Athens (Greece).
The main goal of the project is to strengthen international cooperation and give young people a voice in shaping the European debate.
