Eric Renner Brown

As senior editor, features, Eric edits Billboard’s cover stories and print features and writes about a range of topics. Prior to joining Billboard in 2022, he covered the concert business — including how it navigated the coronavirus pandemic — as editor-reporter at trade magazine Pollstar and its sister publication, VenuesNow. Eric’s work has appeared in Rolling Stone, Vulture, GQ, Creem, People and Entertainment Weekly, where he began his career as a music journalist. An ardent fan of the Grateful Dead and Phish (his favorite shows are 5/26/73 Kezar Stadium in San Francisco and 6/14/00 Fukuoka, Japan, respectively), Eric has reported and written extensively about the world of jam bands and produced the Osiris Media podcast Alive Again about the solo career of Phish frontman Trey Anastasio. Eric grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and studied magazine journalism at Northwestern University Medill School. He lives in Brooklyn with his wife and two cats.
