Underdog Dev mentee
Richard is a friend and was one of my mentees from my time volunteering with Underdog Devs. Our time together was focused building Richard’s skills as a developer and getting his foot in the door of the industry.
What did you find from working with Tim?
Working with Tim through Underdog Devs was a pivotal experience for me as I was getting started in the tech industry. At that stage, I had the motivation to break into tech, but I needed direction, structure, and someone who could help me make sense of what to focus on. His mentorship helped bridge that gap.
What stood out most was his ability to simplify complex concepts and guide me toward thinking like an engineer rather than just someone trying to follow tutorials. Tim didn’t just provide answers, he helped me understand how to approach problems, which is something that continues to benefit me today. That shift in mindset gave me a much stronger foundation in programming and problem-solving.
What do you like most about working with Tim?
Another thing I valued was the consistency and accountability. Having someone experienced to check in with, provide feedback, and keep me on track made a huge difference in staying disciplined and making real progress. It made the learning process feel a lot less overwhelming and much more intentional.
What were the outcomes of working with Tim?
Because of Tim’s mentorship and the Underdog Devs community, I was able to build a solid technical foundation and gain the confidence to pursue opportunities in tech. It played a meaningful role in helping me move from just learning to actually applying my skills in a more professional direction.
Why would you recommend working with Tim?
I would absolutely recommend working with Tim to anyone who is serious about breaking into tech or leveling up their skills. He brings a combination of technical knowledge, practical guidance, and genuine investment in his mentees’ success that’s hard to find.
