429 Too Many Requests

We have moved our website to a new host that uses WP as the website editor. I have inherited website admin duties, and the site was created back in the 90’s with Microsoft FrontPage (I know, I know…).

I have been trying to install XAMPP with WP on my laptop in order to work on the site before making it live. I was able to get XAMPP installed and running with no problem, but when I go to configure WP, I can’t. I get screens that look nothing like any of the screenshots included in the documentation, I can’t open or create any of the config files it wants me to.

To paraphrase Sheldon, “I’m very smart, I was tested,” but I can’t get this figured out and I am beyond frustrated. Please, someone shove me in the right direction!

So, in order to get a more complete icon of what you are trying to do: You want to install on Xampp a backup of an existing site, isn’t it. Or are you trying to make the site from scratch ?

No. I just received a message on a different WP forum about importing my website, and it appears that I cannot, so I will have to recreate the entire site from scratch.

Again, I am able to install and run XAMPP, but I am unable to install and run WP before or after running XAMPP.

From the icons you posted seems that you have the basic files of xampp installed in the root directory localhost. Inside the root you have to copy the wordpress files that you download from wordpress.org and then if you open localhost on your browser will start the installation.
