Why is the defined canonical URL ignored ?
-
Hi !
The site http://www.arborise.ch (also reachable with http://www.arborise.org) is available in three langages and each page has three different URLs, for example:
https://www.arborise.ch/faire-un-don/
https://www.arborise.ch/make-a-donation/?lang=en
https://www.arborise.ch/spenden/?lang=de
I use Yoast Premium 16.1.Each of these pages has his one canonical href, for example: <link rel=”canonical” href=”https://www.arborise.ch/faire-un-don/” />
In addition, the sitemap contains all pages in all three langages: https://www.arborise.ch/page-sitemap.xml
…nevertheless, if we take for example the page https://www.arborise.ch/faire-un-don/, Google pretends (according to the Search Console) that the canonical URL declared by the user is https://www.arborise.ch/make-a-donation/?lang=en (which is wrong!). Consequently Google selects this URL as canonical.
Waht should I do so that Google respects the canonical URL, which I defined as canonical URL (in order that my french and german pages get indexed as well)?
Thank you for your advice!
