Hi @jmy34,
It seems your domain name you mentioned, maine-prep.org has no DNS records, and it is also showing that it is available for purchase. It may have expired without you noticing. Please contact your domain provider or registrar for this.
Best regards,
Niko

@nheeko, thank you! I completely screwed that up, the domain is actually prep-maine.org.

There are no DNS entries for prep-maine.org or maine-prep.org, nor have there been according to the historical DNS tracking site.
I was able to see prep-maine.org on the Whois website. Looks like the DNS record was updated Jan 8, 2024. Going to the site just throws up a WordPress critical error message. So, it would seem the DNS information is at least present.

@markrh, thanks! How can I find out more about the critical error message?

@sterndata, thanks!
I only see that I have access to prepplaceholder.wordpress.com. Full disclosure, I work for a small school system and I am in the IT department. I’m trying to get this all to work on behalf of a school administrator who has the domains. If I want to get his prep-maine.org connected with WordPress, am I correct that I have to have him purchase WordPress Explorer so he can add that domain to his WordPress account? Or am I over complicating this? Thanks.
“prepplaceholder.wordpress.com”
Due to the differences between the various site hosting plans offered at wordpress.com and the self-hosted and self-installed version of WordPress supported here, you should probably ask WordPress.com support instead: https://wordpress.com/support/help-support-options/
I have no idea what “WordPress Explorer” is.

@sterndata, thanks. I only have a free plan, so I thought I was limited to the public forum.

You need to contact wordpress.com support, as noted above.

@sterndata, I certainly appreciate that. However as I noted above, I have a free account and can’t do anything but post publicly. Also, I just wanted to note that there is in fact something called Explorer.
In any case, the automated help widget confirms that I need to have a paid account. Thanks.
You’re posting publicly here. It’s just the wrong place.
