Shortcode issue in textwidget on Page Buider 2.29.6
-
Hi,
I’m having a problem with the latest version 2.29.6 of Page Builder (everything works fine with the previous 2.29.5).
If I insert shortcodes from my theme or other plugins inside a page builder text widget, the shortcodes no longer work, what I see is the shortcode text not executing.
Putting back the previous version or saving the shortcodes on a page without page builder everything works fine. I don’t see any PHP errors but the shortcodes don’t work.
Can you help me?
Thank you-

Thanks for checking.
Is there any involvement from your theme? With Twenty Sixteen, Classic Editor plugin, and VirtualGeo DIV plugin, the result for me in the Classic Editor is:
[div tag=”h1″ class=”ic_intro” cont=”Cloud Applications”]
Here is my testing setup:
https://imgur.com/a/LJpsGSUHi, the result you sent me is what I see with the block editor.
are you sure you are using the classic editor?
Here you can see my test (I also tried changing the theme, no I have no involvement.)

Classic Editor Page:
https://www.geomaticscube-experiments.com/wp-test/classic-editor/Hi, thanks for the links.
My test is in the Classic Editor with only Classic Editor plugin, and VirtualGeo DIV plugin, nothing else. At this stage, I’m hoping to confirm a working baseline outside of our plugins. The Classic Editor link in your reply is using Page Builder. Does the shortcode work independently of SiteOrigin Plugins? To confirm, my initial test case is:
Twenty Sixteen
Classic Editor Plugin
VirtualGeo DIV pluginTo activate the classic editor on my site I use this plugin.
https://it.wordpress.org/plugins/classic-editor/
In this way for each page I can decide whether to use the classic editor or the block editor.Virtualgeo DIV plugin shortcodes work in all cases.
I’ve added a demo page using the pastebin plugin and the pastebin test shortcode:
https://demo.siteorigin.com/corp/sandbox-03/
Please find a screenshot of the Classic Editor view of the above page here https://imgur.com/a/8KFSBwd. Using the provided test plugin and test shortcode, I’m struggling to find a working baseline in the Classic Editor. My test site is a clean installation of wordpress with the “Classic Editor”, “Page Builder by SiteOrigin”, “SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle” and “VirtualGeo DIV” plugins active while the theme I use now is “Twenty Seventeen”, we should see the same things.
I don’t know why we don’t see the same things but anyway the result you got is the problem I’m having.
The shortcodes work, I don’t see why they can’t work.If you can analyze the situation and explain to me what the problem could be, I would be happy.
For me the problem is solved when I comment the line of your plugin as I described. If, despite the tests I sent you, you still believe that the problem is not attributable to the Page Builder, ok, I won’t make you waste any more time.
Thank youNo worries; we’ll get there. We just need to establish a working baseline, and then Alex can work quickly once we’re on the same page.
You mentioned “VirtualGeo DIV” plugins. Was that a typo, or are you using more than one VirtualGeo plugin?
Please ZIP a copy of your test VirtualGeo DIV plugin and upload the ZIP file to WeTransfer.com or something similar. Please send us the link to the plugin ZIP file so we can 100% confirm we’re testing with the same plugin. Please also send us a link to your Classic Editor only test page. Thanks.Sorry, it was a typo, I confirm that there is only one “div” plugin.

Thank youThanks. The test page provided above is using Page Builder. Can you please try confirming a base use case in the Classic Editor without SiteOrigin plugins.
Here are all the cases:
1) Classic Editor with SiteOrigin plugins:
https://www.geomaticscube-experiments.com/wp-test/classic-editor/2) Block Editor with SiteOrigin plugins:
https://www.geomaticscube-experiments.com/wp-test/block-editor/3) Classic Editor without SiteOrigin plugins:
https://www.geomaticscube-experiments.com/wp-test/classic-editor-no-page-builder/4) Block Editor without SiteOrigin plugins:
https://www.geomaticscube-experiments.com/wp-test/block-editor-no-page-builder/Up until version 2.29.5 I have been very happy with the Block Editor with SiteOrigin plugin (2).
With the new version 2.29.6 from this test I see only the classic Editor with SiteOrigin plugin (1) working as before.Thanks.
Alex will likely raise the following implementations:

The shortcode isn’t functional, as you’d like it to be, in a default setting.Have you considered the functionality update Alex prepared for you here: https://pastebin.com/4mHjF5rk.
We do our absolute best in our free support tier but are heavily constrained by our cost overheads. Please know that we’ve done all we can to assist today. As Alex mentioned, we’ve likely resolved an issue that allowed the shortcode to function previously. We can only provide shortcode functionality equal to the default editors.
Please consider the logic in the updated code provided by Alex above.Ok, so include the shortcodes with the WordPress function, do_shortcode().
I make a consideration before considering the ticket closed.
I have always preferred your pagebuilder to others because it is one of the few that is light during page construction and clean on the front-end, but above all it also gave me the freedom to create simple but also complex layouts by combining multiple shortcodes inside the widgets , for me this was a great added value compared to all the others and therefore I will no longer be able to use it as I did before.
I would like to know if I can feel comfortable and continue using it with the classic editor but if it works in a way that you developers don’t want, I don’t think it’s advisable.OK, Thanks for the help!
Thanks for your feedback; much appreciated. Alex will follow-up with you tomorrow regarding the points you’ve raised.
Hi virtualgeo,
I’ve devised a potential fix for this and prepared a build for you. You can download it by clicking here.
Before proceeding, do a backup.
Navigate to Plugins > Installed Plugins, and deactivate the SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle, and then delete it. Scroll to the top of the page and click Add New, Upload Plugin. How does that look?
Kind regards,
Alex
