As far as that is concerned, I think all the ones on the list here are actually quite good: https://wordpress.org/plugins/tags/security/ – most of the attacks, however, tend to be brute force attacks on the login (really crazy sometimes ..), which are also intercepted by many of these plugins.
Thanks for the input @threadi – I tried the one below but when installed, the next day is not there anymore – I’ll start a discussion under their support just to see what they say – but have you experienced this before? Having a security related plugin installed 100% (without a doubt) and the next day plugin is not longer there? Thanks.

Sucuri Security – Auditing, Malware Scanner and Security Hardening
Very strange behaviour. I have made sure the plugin is installed (100%) and have done this twice or thrice but plugin keeps on disappearing on its own. What can be causing this? All plugins are up to date and run a scan for malware also but site is clean according to this scan. Have you seen this strange behaviour before?

You don’t have to send your posts twice here in the forum. As long as you don’t see an error message, it’s related to the caching here in the forum. I also have this from time to time.
And no, I have never experienced anything like this with any plugin. Report it to the developers and maybe try to fix it. Also check the error log of your hosting to see if there is anything there. You can always use a different security plugin – there are many to choose from.
