After upgrading to WordPress 5.7.1 with Google XML Sitemaps 4.1.1 already installed, I decided to disable the Google XML Sitemaps plugin. After doing so, the root path ‘/sitemap.xml’ was getting redirected to ‘/sitemap.xml/’ and displaying front page content.

Looking in my database, I found the rewrite_rules option still contained four entries related to this plugin.

Please update your plugin to properly flush the rewrite rules when disabled.
