    Hi Support Team,

    I would like to kindly request a change of my WordPress.org username.

    Current username: proteczone
    Requested new username: openzenta

    Reason for the request:
    I’m currently rebranding my public projects and services under a new name, and would like my WordPress.org profile to reflect this updated identity. The handle proteczone no longer fits the direction I’m taking, and a new username would help ensure consistent and professional branding across platforms.

    I understand that username changes are handled on a case-by-case basis, and I truly appreciate your consideration.

    I understand that username changes are handled on a case-by-case basis, and I truly appreciate your consideration.

    You understand incorrectly. While the WordPress code does permit the changing of usernames, due to how this site’s systems interact with many other systems it is not possible to change user IDs here. It breaks many things badly when it is even tried. And it has been tried before.

    As you know, you can change the display name.

    If you want a new user ID then create a new one and abandon this one. You will need a different email address for that new account. Also please be aware that brand accounts are not permitted to use the support forums.

    About the Spectator role in the WordPress support forums

    We want real people in the forums, not companies. Company or brand accounts are made a forum spectator role when found and can only be used for submitting themes or plugins to the WordPress theme or plugin repository.
