I’m having trouble adding product category/subcategories to the menu in WordPress dashboard.

    Example. Categories in Woocommerce:
    Cateogry
    ↳Subcategory
    ↳Subcategory
    this way or more subcategories.

In the WordPress dashboard on menu page, the product categories list in a complex way and there is no hierarchy. I think it should sort the hierarchy in the list as in the example above. Thus, when adding a product category to the menu, we can more easily find which category the sub-categories belong to.

In the current situation it is almost impossible to find subcategories.

  • Hi @grafiman

    Thanks for reaching out!

I’m having trouble adding product category/subcategories to the menu in WordPress dashboard.

On my personal site, this is how the Product Categories are listed. Categories and subcategories are listed in hierarchical order as shown below.

To better picture what you are referring to here, can you please share with us a clear screenshot of what you see on your end so that we could address you more effectively?

If you don’t already have a screenshot service installed, you can try https://snipboard.io or http://skitch.com/. You can share the direct link to the image as a response to this topic.

Additionally, I’d like to understand your site properly, please share your System Status Report that you can find via WooCommerce > Status. Select Get system report and then Copy for support. Once you’ve done that, you can paste it into your reply here.

    Thanks!

Hi xue28 (woo-hc), thank you for your answer I am talking about menu page when adding product categories. I can’t see the hierarchy in the list of product categories in the view and when there are too many categories/subcategories it is very difficult and complicated to add them to the menu.

    Hi @grafiman

I am talking about menu page when adding product categories.

Thanks for providing further information about your issue here.

Since this is more a theme issue, it would be best to reach out to your theme’s developers for further assistance here.

Meanwhile, on my personal site running on the default Storefront theme, this is how the Product Categories are listed under Appearance > Customize > Menus:
