Plugin Developers and HPOS – how do I check compatibility myself?

I have created a few plugins that I use for my various sites.
I have a two questions regarding HPOS compatibility.

Firstly how does Woocommerce check and determine whether a plugin is compatible BEFORE it displays the message “below plugins are incompatible with the ‘High-Performance order storage (COT)’ feature.”?
Is is checking code for various plugins?
This really is not clear.

Some of the plugins I created use Woocommerce functions.
How do I determine myself whether my code is compatible with HPOS when I JUST use Woocommerce functions and do NOT write to tables directly?
