Hi, when upgrading my WordFence today, my site went down right after the update and this was in the logs:

[22-Mar-2017 17:14:32 America/New_York] PHP Fatal error: Class wfWAFStorageFile contains 1 abstract method and must therefore be declared abstract or implement the remaining methods (wfWAFStorageInterface::purgeIPBlocks) in C:\home\site\wwwroot\wp-content\plugins\wordfence\vendor\wordfence\wf-waf\src\lib\storage\file.php on line 3

Had to restart the site to fix. PHP 7.1.3.

Let me know if you need anything else to fix it.

    Hello,

Can you explain in more detail please what you did to “restart the site” as I do not understand what you have done?

    Thanks you.

Hi, I meant recycling the application pool on IIS, which basically reboots the website and processes.

This error likely corrupted PHP memory, so it was the only way to get things in working order again.

    Hello,

Thank you for the explanation, I am clear now on what you were saying. Glad that this solved it for you.

Well, it’s still not something that I should have had to do.

Please review your code as mentioned in the error log to see that it works correctly on the latest PHP versions. That seems to be why this happened.

    Hello,

I understand what you are saying. I can certainly pass on your report for you to the development team. Our documentation does state that though we do not recommend using Wordfence on IIS. However, we have reports of Wordfence working on IIS and other Windows web server platforms though they are not officially supported.

Hi, I do know you do not officially support IIS. This error doesn’t seem like an IIS error though – seems like a PHP code issue.

    Hello,

We have only one report of this happening so we will be keeping an eye on this issue. If more reports come in of it happening then we will look more closely at it.
