No idea how to add new link to existing menu in new Editor page
-
Hello everyone,
I have been completely lost and confused after the Menus option got scrapped from the “Appearance” section in WordPress. I cannot figure out the new navigation menu/block editing layout for the life of me!!
Basically, I’m struggling to edit the existing Menu that is currently visible within the header as I have no idea how to even access it. I would like to add a new option to the header with the title “Careers/Recruitment” and have already created an entire page for it… but just don’t know how to add it to the actual menu.
For reference, that page can be accessed if you go to the home page, scroll down a bit and click on “Hair Stylist Required – join the team”. I have put it there in the meantime until I figure out how to add it as a separate page on the header.
Please can someone advise?? Absolutely desperate and would appreciate any advice. Thank you!

Hello there,
I see that your menu is added as the Elementor widget area. But you should be able to access the menus via this link -> https://your-hairdresser.com/wp-admin/nav-menus.php
Kind Regards.
Hi @wpmajestic thanks for your reply!
Unfortunately when I clicked on the link it said “Your theme does not support navigation menus or widgets.”
Currently using the Twenty-Twenty Four theme. I presume this theme doesn’t support the Menus option?
Is there any way I can use the block editing format to access my menu and add a new link? Reluctant to change themes in case it causes loss of website functionality. To edit a menu in a block theme like Twenty Twenty-Four, you’ll use the Site Editor: https://wordpress.org/documentation/article/site-editor/
In the Site Editor, click on the Navigation Block that has the menu you want to edit: https://wordpress.org/documentation/article/navigation-block/
Besides the documentation, there’s also a video tutorial https://learn.wordpress.org/tutorial/intro-to-the-site-editor-and-template-editor/ and a full course https://learn.wordpress.org/course/simple-site-design-with-full-site-editing/ if you prefer those styles.
Hey, I totally get your frustration with the new WordPress menu system! Since the traditional “Menus” section under Appearance is gone in the new editor, you’ll need to use the Site Editor instead.
Here’s how you can add your Careers/Recruitment page to the header:
- Go to Appearance > Editor.
- Click on the header section where your menu is located.
- Look for the Navigation Block and select it.
- Click Edit and then Add Link (usually a “+” button).
- Search for your Careers/Recruitment page and select it.
- Save and publish the changes.
After that, your new menu item should appear in the header.
