I have also been in touch with WPML about this issue.
They gave me this link:

and said that if you like they will work with you (codestyling, the original plugin author) to help make the plugin WPML compatible (including a free WPML account).
So have a look if you are interested.

No luck so far, but I am working on alternatives (amongst other things).
For a work around I will set up each user in their own language…
But I am aiming to have a drop-down selector on the admin dashboard.
When (if) I get a solution I will post it here to help you and others.
I am still amazed that they don’t already include it!!

I think I’ve almost got this figured out. Switching the dashboard language apparently is part of WPML’s functionality, but their documentation is not too great on this, and I’m not there yet. I think you’ll first need to download their WPML String Translation plugin, then these two articles might give the remaining steps:
