This is time-sensitive because this is a business site. It worked ok on one of my sites but caused problems on the second one.

    Hi @sec55,

What’s an example of an image that doesn’t look right?

If you want to revert Smush your smushed images you can deactivate Smush then use https://wordpress.org/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/ to regenerate all the thumbnails using your original uncompressed full size image that’s not compressed by Smush.

Please note that if you used the option Resize my full size images, these original images will not be restored to their original dimensions and you will have to re-upload the original image.

    Cheers,
    Calum

    Hi,
my images (some of the early uploaded ones are very large as I didn’t realise that size matters) are using excess bandwidth and my host has suggested using your plugin, but it’s not been tested with my current (5.0.1) version of WordPress. Can I still go ahead? And is there a way to revert changes if something goes horribly wrong? Any advice would be appreciated, as I have zero technical knowledge. Thank you.

    Hi @antya63,

Smush has been tested up to 5.0.1, so don’t worry about that.

Please keep in mind, that you won’t be able to smush large originals with the Free version of Smush, but you will be able to compress and optimize all other sizes. If the original image is left intact, you can always restore all other sizes with Regenerate Thumbnails plugins or similar alternative.

You will also have the option to resize large originals. So, for example, if you were uploading 8000×8000 images, you can define a new size (by default Smush will offer 2048×2048).

    Best regards,
    Anton
