How to optimize Tag pages with Yoast?

Hi,

I am reading your article https://yoast.com/tagging-posts-properly-for-users-and-seo/, there is a statement said:

You can even optimize your tag pages to try to make them rank well too. Our Yoast SEO plugin will help you with this. The content analysis will not only check the content of single blog posts or pages, but it ‘ll also run a check on your tag page. As a result, you’ll get detailed instructions on how to improve the content on it.

But you do not offer more details on how to optimize the tag pages via Yoast SEO, such as in which page, via which option, etc.

Hi @chcw

Kindly edit a Tag page using the default WordPress editor and scroll down to find the Yoast SEO metabox. There you will find suggestions in SEO analysis and Readability analysis tab to optimize your content.

But tag does not like normal post, its description will be empty, like below:

So in such a case, the standard SEO analysis and readablity analysis of Yoast SEO will always show many errors.

Also this article https://yoast.com/taxonomy-seo-categories-tags/ just said “But you should be careful with your use of tags and not just add new tags to every page you create. Read more on how to use tags properly or learn more about the difference between tags and categories.”, which point back to the article https://yoast.com/tagging-posts-properly-for-users-and-seo/ mentioned in my first post.

In a word, I still cannot find a systemaic way to optimize tag manually or with your plugin.

The idea in the article is that you can choose to optimise your tag pages like you would regular posts or pages by adding a description which serves as the content to be analyzed
