    Hi

I hope someone can help me out – my ancient multisite (started 2011!) has finally broken with the update to 6.8 – all the /file links in all the sub-sites are broken. My install has the old setup where all uploaded files are in the blogs.dir directory and not in uploads like newer installs. I guess the dev team might not be checking on such an old setup…
This means all the imges and links are broken on all my sites.

Anyone got any suggestions for a fix?

A problem with some (!) multisite installations is already known and documented here by the development team: https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/63285 – comment #7 there might be helpful for you. But also check whether the error mentioned can be seen in your error log.

thanks for that @threadi – I am indeed getting the error:

PHP Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function is_super_admin() in /var/www/clients/client7/web7/web/wp-includes/ms-files.php:23\nStack trace:\n#0 {main}\n thrown in /var/www/clients/client7/web7/web/wp-includes/ms-files.php on line 23′

Have amended ms-files.php as suggested in https://core.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/60171/branches/6.8/src/wp-includes/ms-files.php
    and the problem is resolved!
Hopefully this will be incorporated into next release – nearly had a heart attack thinking all my uploads had been deleted – and my backups too – until I realised it used the old scheme!

    Hi,

Same here (old multisite), the images of all sub sites were broken. After adding the fix everything works again. Thanks!
