External database/api to Woo

Hi.
I’m building an Woocommerce website for a client and have an issue.
They have external products database and want to connect it to Woocommerce. The database includes product name, price, and stock and I need to fetch them to Woocommerce, and images, descriptions, etc will be edited from Woocommerce itself. They also have an API.
Is there a way or a plugin that will connect the external product database to Woo?

Services like n8n and Zapier will let you link APIs to automate that sort of thing

Hi @lashac,

If they can export the products from the external database into a CSV document, they can import those details into WooCommerce by following the directions here – https://woocommerce.com/document/product-csv-importer-exporter/

Bear in mind that WooCommerce expects the CSV document to be formatted in a specific manner, so some massaging of that exported CSV doc may be required. You’ll want to pay attention to the How to create the CSV section of that document to make sure you get it right.

ALternately, you can look into @seank123’s suggestion and see if that works for your needs.

@seank123 I will try them.

@luminus CSV is a good option but they don’t want to import products. Products will be in another database and they must connect to Woocommerce and update automatically.

Hi Pete,

I would probably setup my own server and then configure it to connect to an external database. Something like: https://www.linode.com/docs/guides/configure-wordpress-remote-database/

You also mentioned:

They also have an API.

This sounds like the go-to solution then.
