    Hi there,

We use ManageWP to manage our WordPress websites and do updates for some of our plugins. I notice that every time I update Site Kit through ManageWP, the app does appear to be disconnected. There is no dashboard app anymore, and I need to reconnect/run the setup again to restore the sitekit dashboard (/?page=googlesitekit-dashboard), and the widget on wp-admin dashboard (/wp-admin).

The data collection seems to continue, so the Analytics code is not removed from the website while sitekit is disconnected, but I constantly need to restore the connection to Site Kit to have insight in the data.

Is this a known bug? Can I do anything to prevent this from happening? Or can we look into why this is happening? Please let me know if there’s anything I can do to help investigate this.

    Best regards,

    Bas

Thanks for getting in touch @purepixels. I’ll see if I can test out ManageWP to see what may be occurring. In the meantime, as this isn’t a known bug, please share the following:

    1. Your Site Health information. You can use this form to share privately if preferred.
    2. Are you using the free tier of ManageWP, and with default settings? If so does this occur on all sites that use Site Kit?
    3. How many sites do you have Site Kit connected with? I ask as a large number of sites may be the cause of becoming disconnected.

What I suspect may be happening, is that rather than a standard plugin update, Site Kit may be uninstalled in full before being installed once more, and there may be some WordPress constants also modified with each update. I say this as you mentioned that tracking remains, indicating that the snippets placed via remain active on your site. If you’re being asked to reconnect your Google account, this may be cause by your WordPress constants change.

Let me know if you have any questions with the above. Thank you.

@purepixels I’ll close this support topic given we didn’t receive a response. Note also that we did perform some checks with ManageWP. In our case we’re unable to recreate any issue. If the issue remains, please share the information requested above and reopen this support topic. Thank you!
