    Hello,

I would now like to switch to using blocks because the Classic Editor now has a limited lifespan.

So I would like to convert the pages into blocks.

    How do I proceed ?

    Thank you in advance.
    Sincerely,

Hi, thanks for getting in touch. We’ll continue to develop Page Builder in both editors for a long time to come. To convert a page to the Block Editor you can use the Classic Editor plugin which allows, via it’s settings page, the option to open pages in either editor. From the Page Builder tab you can click Layouts > Import/Export > Download Layout. Open the page in the Block Editor, clear the contents, insert a SiteOrigin Layout Block and then import the layout file via the same path. Within the Layout Block click Layouts > Import/Export > Import Layout. The SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle also offers a block. All widgets are accessed from a single block, in the near future each widget will receive its own block.

    Question 1:

What is the Page Builder tab ?

Question 2 : Where is the Page Builder tab : in the classic editor or in Page Builder ?

    Thank you.

    Best regards,

    Hi,

The Page Builder tab activates Page Builder in the Classic Editor; it is not present in the Block Editor.

In the Block Editor, you’ll be prompted to add a SiteOrigin Layout Block if there are no other blocks present. Otherwise, you’ll need to add the block to the page manually by clicking the Add Block button, and then searching for SiteOrigin Layouts.

      Kind regards,
      Alex

      Hello,
First of all, thank you for your answer.
By doing what you recommend, we get the following error:
This block has encountered an error and cannot be previewed.
      Kind regards,

      Hi,

That’s strange. Does this happen when creating a new page and adding a SiteOrigin Layouts Block? If so, that suggests there may be a conflicting plugin present. Would you mind running a quick plugin conflict test?

You can start by disabling all non-SiteOrigin plugins and see if this fixes the issue. You’ll need to clear all your caches after disabling your plugins. So just to confirm, double check if the issue is coming up while all other plugins are disabled.

If it does fix the issue, then try re-enabling your plugins one by one until the issue comes back. This procedure will help diagnose which plugin is causing the issue. Once we know that, we’ll be able to look at what might be causing the conflict and either solve the problem or help you find an alternative plugin.

You could also try temporarily switching to a default WordPress theme like Twenty Sixteen. Default WordPress themes are generally very light weight which lowers the chance that they’ll conflict with plugins, so they’re a good way to test if your original theme is the source of the issue.

      Kind regards,
      Alex

      Hello,

I checked by following your test advice.

I first disabled all plugins except Page Builder SiteOrigin and I cleared the cache.

So I checked. But the problem remains the same.

Then I activated the plugins again.

I changed the theme and activated Twenty twenty five instead.

So I then checked. But the problem remains the same.

In the end, I lost a page of my site because of the automatic saving. I had to restore the site from a backup made the day before.

I’m going down another path. I’m going to build a page with blocks from a blank page. Since there are about fifty pages to recreate, it will probably be easier to start on a better basis.

      Thanks again.

      Hi,

Thanks for trying. I’m sorry that’s happening. We have no known issues like this at this time so I’m not too sure what what’s happening for you. Can you please send me a screenshot of the result you’re getting? This will give me a better idea of when this issue is occurring for you. You can upload a screenshot to a third-party image hosting site like Imgur or a general file hosting site like WeTransfer.

      Kind regards,
      Alex
