I’m afraid I have no idea what “the off canvas panel” is really (I use and like GP but I don’t have any GP premium experience).
Given the feedback from David, try disabling “optimize CSS” for a minute to see if that indeed fixes the issue, if so we can dig deeper and if not we’ll try another approach.

disabling the “optimize CSS” feature fixes the issue. The off canvas panel is a menu (mostly used for mobile devices).
generatepress uses this type of menu on their website itself.

OK, so the interesting thing: generatepress.com uses Autoptimize as well and the menu does work there, so it’s likely a conflict somewhere somehow. What are your CSS optimization settings?

issue is fixed.i just found a bug in my css that led to the problem (even though it had nothing to do with the off canvas panel).
