    Hi,
I was using TwentyTwenty as my main theme but changed to another theme a couple of days ago.
The problem is that there is some script, code, still running behind from the TwentyTwenty theme on my new Theme-website and in particular in my Home Page (all the other pages seems to be Ok.
So, the homepage still showing this old Menu from TwentyTwenty theme on Laptop and on Mobile versions.
I’ve already cleaned my Caches on browsers and Cloudflare.
I’ve also contacted my Web-hosting company and they have cleared the Server and Cache from their end.

I even get GTMetrix/Google reports with some “Bad request messages”, showing this and the problem is that is delaying the speed of my website 5 seconds just with 2 TwentyTwenty issues on the Headers section. Here are the 2 screenshots.

I really hope you can help me as I have been trying to solve this issue without any result.
    Cheers,
    Roy.

Is there any change if you completely disable Cloudflare’s cache?

Cloudflare’s cache is annoyingly persistent, even after allegedly clearing, sometimes I find that just switching it off is the only way to be sure.

Also, is there any change if you try to activate any other theme, like Twenty Nineteen for example?

It’s possible that something is wrong with your current theme, so WordPress may be attempting to use the latest default theme (Twenty Twenty) instead.

I’ve been experiencing the same issue. Actually never really used TwentyTwenty so ended up deleting just now, but still the homepage is TwentyTwenty (& doesn’t even have all the menus). Maybe it’s a common bug, so just letting you know.

    Hi @macmanx !
Thank you for your response and regarding Cloudflare’s, I’ve cleaned the Cache directly from their Website and also from their plugin directly on my website. Then I disabled and deleted their plugin and disconnected from ShortPixel and other plugins that could be connected. Actually I disabled all plugins and just left Elementor plugin active and the problem stills there event after cleaning again my cache and browser cache, cookies.

I’ve tried also to change to TwentyNineteen theme and the issue our bug, still there, I just can get rid of the TwentyTwenty menu and in Google and GTMextrix reports they reflect the code from this theme messing somewhere on my site.

I hope you can help me as I have some weeks and just can fix it on myside.
Thank you also @gridkitten , I have seen the same problem to erase this theme in other topics and forums.
    Keep safe both !
    🙂

Disabling the Cloudflare plugin doesn’t disable Cloudflare’s cache. You need to do that on Cloudflare’s end.

Hi, @macmanx , thank you again for your response.
About Cloudflare maybe I wasn’t clear but I cleaned cache on Cloudflare’s end. Then I also cleaned cache on my dashboard and also using their plugin. After I’ve disable their plugin and cleaned all web browser caches. And also asked my web hosting to reset and clean caches on their end.
Still the problem is there with the TwentyTwenty theme. I can erase the menu from this theme from my website (mobile and lap version).
    Thank you again.

No, you were clear that you cleared the cache on Cloudflare’s end.

To which I replied, “Is there any change if you completely disable Cloudflare’s cache? Cloudflare’s cache is annoyingly persistent, even after allegedly clearing, sometimes I find that just switching it off is the only way to be sure.”

    Hi @macmanx !
Thank you. So, I’ve followed your suggestions to completely disable Cloudflare’s and disable their plugin too. Then I cleaned all caches on my dashboard and browser but the problem with the Menu from TwentyTwenty stills.
As I was translating into Spanish, I have all the website working well on Laptop/Mobile but just in Spanish and in English that was the initial language all the site working well but is just the Menu on the Homepage from TwentyTwenty that keeps appearing no matter what.
Thank you for any suggestions 🙂

So, I am able to see any changes in real time now, I’ve tested and in incognito window I can see any change, except that the Menu from TwentyTwenty stills. Apparently there is a code running somewhere…

    (@macmanx)

Have you tried deactivating all plugins again, now that all caches are fully disabled?

If no change there, try switching the theme again now that all caches are fully disabled.

If still no change, did you ever make any changes to Twenty Twenty that you may have accidentally added to one of WordPress’s function.php files instead of the theme’s file?

    Thread Starter roysai

    (@roysai)

    Hi @macmanx ,
I’ve disabled all plugins, cleaned caches and changed Theme but the problem stills there.
I’ve sent again my sitemap to Google and asked again to get indexed. Not sure if the problem can be there ?

Regarding WP, I didn’t make any changes to php files. So I am quite lost at the moment.
    Thanks again 🙂

    (@macmanx)

Try downloading WordPress again, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel (consult your hosting provider’s documentation for specifics on these), and delete then replace your copies of everything on the server except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings.

Some uploaders tend to be unreliable when overwriting files, so don’t forget to delete the original files before replacing them.

    Thread Starter roysai

    (@roysai)

    Hi @macmanx , thanks again.

So I’ve asked the support from Bluehost, they just did exactly what you’ve told me. Erase all the files in control panel and delete and replace excepting for the 2 files. They reset files permission again and from my side cleaned cookies and browser caches and also in WP dashboard.
The problem with the broken home page stills after doing all.
As Bluehost told me , they think is something related with caches as they’ve sent me a non cache website link and works fine: https://dconfluence.com/?nocache=1

Not sure what else to do.
    Thanks again.
    Roy.

    Moderator James Huff

    (@macmanx)

Are you using any caching plugins besides Cloudflare? If not, then it sounds like the problem is with Bluehost’s built-in cache, and you’ll need to work with them on this.

    Thread Starter roysai

    (@roysai)

    Hi @macmanx !
so I dont have active WP fastest cache that also I’ve installed after this problem, but it’s disabled at the moment. If not I have UpdraftPlus for the backups (not sure if TranslatePress could be affecting dont think so).
I just spent some days with Bluehost and again yesterday they cleaned and reset caches, also erase all WP files and installed them again but the problem with the WP2020 persists.
Here is my site info: probably will contact a developer to track the code from the WP2020 theme?
    Cheers,

You have to stop focusing on the Twenty Twenty theme. It’s not that. When a theme is deactivated, it stops loading, period, that’s how WordPress works.

The only exception would be a persistent caching problem, and as that sounds, it’s the cache’s problem.

When you disabled WP Fastest Cache, did you fully uninstall it following the plugin’s directions (this involves more than just deleting it like any other non-cache plugin)? Failing to do so can leave your site in a persistent partially cached state, like exactly what’s happening now.
